
MTC imposes ban on single use plastics
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Medziphema Town Council, under the directives of the Government of Nagaland, has imposed a strict ban on all single-use plastics (SUPs) in the Medziphema Subdivision with immediate effect. This includes the prohibition of single-use plastic carry bags, regardless of thickness, and all plastic bottles for water and soft drinks with a capacity of less than one liter. All individuals, institutions, and commercial establishments—including educational institutions, offices, hotels, shops, restaurants, religious institutions, industrial establishments, and banquet halls—are required to comply with this ban. Non-compliance will result in punitive measures, with a fine of Rs 10,000 for the first offense, Rs 20,000 for the second, and permit cancellation for subsequent violations.
House committee meeting scheduled for August 24
Kohima, August 22 (MExN): The Nagaland Legislative Assembly Secretariat has announced that the Speaker, who also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee, has convened a meeting of the House Committee. The meeting is scheduled for August 24, at 11 am in the Committee Room of the Assembly Secretariat in Kohima. All Committee members have been requested to attend the meeting. This announcement was issued by the Secretary-in-Charge, Khruohitounuo Rio.
Training on Securities Market held at NU
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Department of English, Nagaland University in collaboration with Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) organised a workshop on Securities Markets on August 21 with Chenio Lotha, Securities Market Trainer (SEBI) as resource person. After 2 hours of deliberation on various aspects of the Securities Market, there was a question-answer session. Lotha collected feedback from the participants also. Around 80 students from MA (English) first semester attended the workshop. The session was concluded with a vote of thanks. Initially the Head of the department welcomed the trainer and introduced him to the participants.
