NLA Committee to inspect Kohima multi-level parking projects

Kohima, August 26 (MExN): Imkong L. Imchen, MLA and Chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings (2024-2025), has announced plans to conduct an on-the-spot verification of two key multi-level car parking projects in Kohima. The inspection will cover the parking facilities at the Old Medical Directorate and Old NST on Friday, August 30 at 11:00 AM. All members of the Committee on Public Undertakings have been urged to attend the inspection.

FGN to observe 61st Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with the Nagaland Baptist Church (NBCC) and the Naga National Council (NNC), will observe the 61st Indo-Naga Ceasefire Day on September 6. The event is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. at the Peace Hall, Chedema Peace Camp, Chedema. In a statement dated August 26, 2024, the Ministry of Rali Wali of the Federal Government of Nagaland extended a cordial invitation to all peace-loving individuals to participate in the function, emphasizing the significance of the occasion in commemorating the historic ceasefire.

Zunheboto DC informs

Zunheboto, August 26 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), has announced a mass awareness campaign on 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' and mental health. The event will take place on August 28 at 10:00 AM in the Multipurpose Hall, Zunheboto. In a notification, the DC highlighted the growing concern over substance abuse and mental health issues among the youth. The campaign aims to educate them on the dangers associated with these issues. He urged the general public, particularly the youth, to participate actively in the event.

RALH condemns assault on Pastor

DIMAPUR, AUGUST 26 (MExN): The Ralan Area Lotha Hoho (RALH) has condemned the assault and attempted murder of Rhanlamo Kikon, Pastor of Yanpha Baptist Church on August 24 in Naukhati town. Despite the Yanpha Village Council's immediate report of the incident to the authorities, no significant action has been taken, a press release from the Hoho stated. The Hoho expressed concern over the recurring harassment of innocent civilians by individuals claiming to be National Workers, noting the government's inaction. The organization also criticized the ineffective enforcement of ceasefire agreements between Naga political groups and the Indian government. They called for the immediate arrest and punishment of the perpetrator according to the law.

Unidentified body found under Dimapur flyover

DIMAPUR, August 25 (MExN): An unidentified male body, estimated to be around 55-60 years old, was discovered beneath a flyover bridge in Dimapur on Sunday afternoon. East Police Station received the information at approximately 2:45 PM from Traffic Control Dimapur and promptly dispatched officers to the scene, informed a press release from the Dimapur Police. The deceased, described as wearing bluish pants and no shirt, was found lying unresponsive under the bridge. Authorities found no immediate evidence of foul play. The body has been moved to the District Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination and identification.

ZSUN mourns

Peren, August 26 (MExN): The Zeliangrong Students' Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has expressed sorrow following the passing of Late Kwetsong Siaraung. In a statement, ZSUN highlighted Siaraung's exemplary life and unwavering dedication to the community. He was instrumental in founding the Zeliangrong Baptist Church in Chumoukedima and was Chairman of the Zeliangrong Union from 2012 to 2019. Siaraung also served as President of the Zeliang People Organisation in Chumoukedima until his passing. The ZSUN extended condolences to the bereaved family.
