
Awareness prog on fortified rice in Longleng
Longleng, August 11 (MExN): The Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Longleng District, organized a one-day awareness program on Fortified Rice on August 10. The event, held at VCC & VDB Conference Hall, saw participation from around 200 attendees including Fair Price Shop Owners, Ward Chairpersons, Village Chairpersons, GBs, Civil Societies, and beneficiaries. Shan Ezung, State Technical Officer (Nagaland) from PATH, conducted a session on rice fortification. He explained the significance of fortified rice and its micronutrient content, including Iron, Vitamins B12, and Folic Acid. Ezung clarified that fortified rice is not plastic rice but rice kernels blended with micronutrients to combat malnutrition and anemia. He also highlighted that various fortified items are distributed through food safety networks.
Chümou DC informs contractors
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 11 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Chümoukedima has informed all contractors who have submitted DAC for contract works under PEP Chümoukedima Division, that the list of DAC which has completed 10 years and above has been put up/displayed on the notice board at the office of the undersigned. Therefore, the concerned Contractors are informed to check the list and submit an application for release/renewal/Re-validation of DAC/Fixed Deposits within one month from the date of issue of this notice, after which it will be forwarded to respective banks for remittance to RBI under Depositor Education and Awareness Fund Account (As per directive of RBI).
NSCN/GPRN (Niki) mourns
Dimapur, August 11 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has mourned the demise of Wangkhai Wangsa who allegedly “succumbed to bullet injuries on Thursday in Tirap district of Arunachal.” The MIP of NSCN/GPRN (Niki) in a press release stated that Wangkhai Wangsa was serving as Khapur (probation) under the establishment of Arunachal Affairs, NSCN/GPRN and died in the line of duty. It further said that his “sacrifice for the nation shall never be forgotten but shall remain etched in the annals of Naga history.” The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) while paying “highest respect and homage” to the deceased also prayed for eternal solace of his soul. Further, it conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and it prayed for God almighty to give them strength and courage to overcome the grief.
