Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts notifies

Kohima, August 17 (MExN): The Directorate of Treasuries & Accounts have notified that the Life Certificate for Pensioners issued by Gazetted Officers and submitted to Treasuries & Banks has been amended and will now be collected only as per the new format. The state IPR in an update stated that Treasuries & Banks will henceforth accept information of the pensioners only as per the updated format. Additional information, if required by the banks, may be collected separately, it stated. “Amendment of the format is not permitted and submission of Life Certificate in any other format will henceforth be considered null & void. The new format will be effective from the date of issue of this notification,” it added. 

Khukhu festival greetings

Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) in a press release has wished good fortune to the Chakhesang people on ‘Khukhu’, which is a festival for girls where the girls are offered a special and nutritious kind of food to make the bond of the family stronger, where in this very special day, girls would eat, play and make merry the whole day. “The NSCN is very positive that our Chakhesang brothers and sisters will continue to make the bond stronger to their womenfolks in particular and the Nagas in general,” MIP, NSCN/GPRN (Akato Chophi) stated in its press note.  

TR Zeliang extends Honapongpi greeting

Kohima, August 17 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister TR Zeliang has extended his warmth greetings to all members of the Sangtam community on the occasion of Honapongpi Festival. TR Zeliang said Honapongpi Festival holds an important occasion in the contemporary era not only for Sangtam tribe but for the whole Nagas as it is observed especially for children, providing them platform to learn and preserved the culture of the community. In a time when the value of our culture is gradually diminishing due to invasion of different outside cultures, Honapongpi festival bears significance especially for the younger generation, hence it deserved to be celebrated in true traditional spirit with keen participation of vibrant young people, TR Zeliang said and wished a very happy and joyous celebration.

Diocese of Kohima to celebrate Golden Jubilee

Kohima, August 17 (MExN): The Diocese of Kohima will be celebrating Golden Jubilee (1973-2023) this year under the theme “For Christ and His Church). It will take place from October 28 to 29 at Cathedral Church, Kohima. The celebration will be marked by Holy Eucharistic celebration, Marian procession, cultural evening among the others. Meanwhile, Catholic Association of Nagaland (CAN) extended invitation to one and all to be part of the celebration.

Awareness programme on fortified rice in Tuensang

Tuensang, August 17 (MExN): Awareness programme on fortified rice was organised by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Tuensang at CKS conference hall, Tuensang on August 17. A DIPR report stated that State Technical Officer from PATH, Shan Ezung spoke on the importance of fortification of rice. He informed that fortified rice contains micronutrients such as iron, Vitamin B12 and Folic acid. Fortified rice is not a plastic rice but Karnels (FRK) through exertion technology which is mixed in normal rice through blending with a ratio of 1:100 to tackle malnutrition as well as anemia. He also highlighted that fortified rice is being used in ICDS, MDM/PM Poshan and PDS. Ezung further cited that all fortified items were tagged with plus F logo. Children intake of fortified rice during the mid-day meal is same as normal rice which does not have smell, taste, and look like normal rice.The programme was attended by participants from fair price shop owners, Ward Chairmen, Village Chairmen and Civil Societies from Tuensang Town, it added.
