
Awareness prog on Dengue in Bhandari
Wokha, August 24 (MExN): An awareness programme regarding Dengue, Japanese Encephalitis (JE), and viral conjunctivitis was organized by the H&FW Department at the Bhandari Town Hall on August 23. Dr. Lydia MO, CHC Bhandari, emphasized the significance of recognizing signs and symptoms, understanding the mode of transmission, and adopting preventive measures to control the spread of these diseases. She appealed to the public to prioritize their health and protect themselves from these illnesses. The event was attended by members of civil society, Lotha Hoho Bhandari, Eleo Hoho Bhandari, Student Union of Bhandari, and the general public of Bhandari town.
Coordination meet in Tseminyu
Tseminyu, August 24 (MExN): A coordination meeting was held on August 24 at the Tseminyu Town Hall, involving the Tseminyu ICDS staff, Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi helpers of the Tseminyu District ICDS project by the Department of Social Welfare, Kohima. The event was graced by a special guest, Tosheli Zhimomi, Director of the Department of Social Welfare. The keynote address was delivered by Menokhrielie CDPO Tseminyu, and short speeches were given by Nokcharenla, Additional Director (SW), Imkongzenla Jamir, Deputy Director (SW), and Heboy Rio, Assistant Director of Social Welfare (SW).
Designation of officers as per RTI Act 2005

Physical verification for pensioners
Kohima, August 24 (MExN): The office of the Senior Treasury Office, Kohima South Treasury has informed all pensioners life and family drawing pension from the office that the annual physical verification for 2023-2024 will be held from September 11 to 16 at the New South Treasury Office (i.e DC Office Compound) during the office hours.
In this connection, all the pensioners have been asked to appear physically along with PPO books, renewed NPA ID card, life certificate and non-marriage certificate, being issued from the Treasury Office.
Failure to attend the annual physical verification will results in the stoppage of pension payment, informed a press release issued by Zubenthung Murry, Treasury Officer, Kohima South Treasury.
FCS Nagaland to sensitise public on fortified rice
Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): The Food & Civil Supplies (FCS) Nagaland is planning to organise series of awareness programmes across the State to sensitise general public on fortified rice.
The programme, to be organise in collaboration with PATH as Technical partner, is aimed at clearing the misinformation on plastic rice being circulated on social media, informed a circular issued by S Kavito Aomi, Assistant Director, FCS Dimapur.
For Dimapur, Chumüokedima and Niuland districts, the event will be held in IMC Hall, Fellowship Colony, and Dimapur on August 29.
Accordingly, the department has invited all concerned Fair Price Shops (FPS), Village Councils, Colony Chairmen and Urban GBs under three districts to attend the awareness programme and spread the message on the benefit of consuming fortified rice.
The FCS department further informed that to achieve uniform nutritional impact of fortified rice amongst the targeted population, the Government of India is providing the fortified rice through various schemes like ICDS, PM POSHAN and PDS under National Food Security Act, 2013 (NFSA) in the entire country in phased wise manner.
BAC to finalise provisional prog for NLA Session
Kohima, August 24 (MExN): The Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) and Chairman of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) Sharingain Longkumer has convened a meeting of the committee on August 29, 11 AM onwards.
A press release from the NLA Secretariat informed that the meeting at Committee Room, Assembly Secretariat will finalise the provisional programme for the Second Session of the 14th NLA scheduled to commence from September 11.
Ramakrishna Society Dimapur President passes away
Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): Ratikanta Jana, the President of Ramakrishna Society Dimapur died Thursday morning at his home at TK Complex, Dimapur following a heart attack.
He was associated with Ramakrishna Society since last 25 years and dedicated his service in various capacities, informed a condolence message received here. He was also working at the Public College of Commerce, Dimapur as a Senior-accountant.
Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Minority Wing mourned on the demise of Jana and extended deepest condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
“Late Jana will be remembered in the midst of the society for his immense contribution as social worker and selfless Services since last many years in Ramakrishna Society, Dimapur," the NPF Minority Wing Central President Bishnu Bhattacharjee President stated in the condolence message.
TSUD to hold Freshers' Meet cum Cultural Event
Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): Under the theme, "Preserving and Enhancing Culture through Education," the Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur(TSUD) hold its "Freshers' Meet-cum-Cultural Event" on August 26 from 10AM at the Bundrock Hall, Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), Chümoukedima.
Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, former Chief Minister of Nagaland and President of the Naga People’s Front and Ura Academy will grace the academic Session while Losü Dikho, former Minister and MLA 48-Mao A/C Manipur will grace the cultural event. In this connection, the TSUD in a press release has extended invitations to all students, elders and well-wishers to attend the programme.
Transportation will be provided by the TSUD and all the delegates are requested to reach the pickup points before 8:30 am, it added. The pickup points are Dimapur Government College, DC Court Junction, City Tower, Half Nagarajan, Padampukhuri Junction and Toulazouma Gate.
For Chümoukedima areas, the bus will start at 9am from 1st Gate.
