DMC on renewal of trade licenses
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has stated that despite several reminders/notices, most shopkeepers/traders/business establishments have been carrying out their business without renewing trade license which is illegal and will invite penal action.In a notification, the DMC has directed all the traders/business establishments who have not yet renewed their license till date to do so. Failing to comply with this order, the defaulter shall be penalised with fire as per the provision under Section 130 of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023. 


GPRN/NSCN (U) condoles 
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN (U) conveys its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members of late Longang Konyak of Yakshu village under Mon district, who passed away on August 27 in an unfortunate car accident at Jharnapani. In a press release, the GPRN/NSCN (U) sincerely acknowledged the contribution of the deceased in strengthening the historic signing of Agreed position during his brief stint as a Dy. Speaker of National Tatar Hoho (National Assembly). His tragic death is a huge loss to the GPRN/NSCN in particular and for the Naga people in general. The void created by his demise will be difficult to fill in, the press release said. 


African swine fever detected in Kohima 
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): African Swine Fever (ASF) has been detected in Thizama Village, Chiephobozou Block, Kohima district. The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima has declared a 1 km radius around the infected premises as an Infected Zone and a 10 km radius, extending 9 km beyond this zone, as a Surveillance Zone. A ban has been imposed on the slaughter, import, export, and transportation of pigs and pork to contain the outbreak. The public is urged to comply with these restrictions to prevent further spread of the disease.

Art and Culture Dept informs rural libraries
KOHIMA, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Department of Art & Culture has reminded all Rural Libraries registered under the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland to collect the prescribed format, and submit the details of their Libraries to the respective District Cultural Officers, on or before November 30, failing which their registration as NGO Libraries under the Department of Art and Culture will automatically stand cancelled.  It informed that it is a requirement, for recognition of Libraries, as recommended by the Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata. It is further notified that recognition of the Libraries will be renewed periodically after proper inspection about satisfactory functioning and services provided by the concerned libraries. All NGO Libraries must also be registered in the NGO Darpan system (https://ngodarpan.gov.in/) of the Government of India and the unique ID generated from the NGO Darpan has to be mentioned.


Mokokchung DPDB meet on September 4
KOHIMA, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Mokokchung, ThsuvisiePhoji has informed that the monthly DPDB meeting for the month of August & September will be held on September 4 at 11 AM at DC's Conference Hall, Mokokchung. All the board members have been requested to attend the meeting without fail.


GPRN/NSCN issues  termination order 
DIMAPUR, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has terminated one Toshika H Ayemi, Deputy Secretary from immediate effect. In a termination order, GPRN/NSCN Chief Secretary Achumthung Lotha said the decision was taken after scrupulous attention to his violation of National Yehzabo. The termination order comes into effect from the date of issue of this order, it stated. 


Mon DTF on immunization meets to address health challenges
MON, AUGUST 29 (MExN): The Mon District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI) held a meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS. The session aimed to address preventive measures against diseases and discussed forming block-level task forces to streamline operations and tackle challenges at the grassroots level. Deputy Commissioner Verma emphasized the need for monthly data collection, including immunization and other schemes like ICTC reports. He also inquired about the functionality of vaccine storage units and encouraged institutional deliveries. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Supongmenla Walling presented a PowerPoint report on immunization coverage from April to July 2024, while Epidemiologist Dr. K. Elizabeth K provided updates on the Measles Rubella surveillance, noting that a suspected outbreak in Chinglong Village is now under control. District Welfare Officer Yanlem reported that food supplements are being provided to mothers and children, as per higher authority directives.
