
Security forces arrest one in Dimapur
Kohima, December 10 (MExN): The Assam Rifles under Spear Corps in a joint operation with Police representative arrested one cadre of NSCN (IM) in general area Thilixu, Dimapur on December 6, an official release informed. The cadre, “involved in extortion and illegal arms dealing,” was arrested after an operation was launched based on specific input, said the release from PRO (Def) Kohima. One 7.65mm US made Pistol, one 7.65mm Country made Pistol, one .22mm Pistol, one .22mm Air Rifle, one Rifle sight, one Spare Butt and 16 live rounds of ammunition, besides contraband drugs were recovered from the cadre, it said. He was handed over to the Diphupar Police Station along with the recovered items for further investigation, it added.
One arrested for extortion
Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): Dimapur police on Thursday reported the arrest of one person from Purana Bazar on December 9. According to a press release from the Dimapur Police PRO, the arrested individual, identified as Tokhevi Achumi (31 yrs), Rajapeyu of NNC/GDRN was arrested while extorting money from good laden trucks at Purana Bazar, Dimapur in the name of GPRN/NSCN (R) Naga Army. Cash amount of Rs 220 was recovered/seized from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered at East Police Station Dimapur, the release added.
NSCN (IM) mourns demise of Steering Committee member
Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Thursday mourned the demise of A Lohrii, Executive Member of the Steering Committee, NSCN. “We deeply mourn his untimely death at such a stage of his service for the Naga nation for which he had given his everything and to go away without seeing the fruition of the Naga political movement,” Maj Retd Hutovi Chishi, Convener, Steering Committee stated in a condolence message. Late Lohrii joined the national service in the year 1995. He was from Tunggam village under Sepoumaramth Region. The Convenor expressed gratitude to late Lohrii for his dedication to the Naga political cause during his 25 years of service. “He will be remembered for all the time to come for the service rendered. The vacuum created would be difficult to fill,” he added. The NSCN (IM) further expressed express heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and friends of the deceased and prayed for his soul to rest in peace.
No donations/taxation within Medziphema town: GB Union
Dimapur, December 10 (MExN): The Medziphema Town GB Union on Thursday informed that it would not allow any sort of taxation or donation from shopkeepers within its jurisdiction by any individual/ political group/ groups. According to a press release appended by Neingusie Meyase, Head GB and Kecalhoutuo, General Secretary of the Medziphema Town GB Union, this was resolved in a meeting held on December 10. Other resolutions included directing all the shopkeepers to put stars/ decorate their shops within December 15. The Union also resolved to not allow shops within its jurisdiction to open on Sundays.
IMFL worth Rs 8 lakh seized in Tuli
Mokokchung, December 10 (MExN): The Assam Rifles reported the seizure of IMFL in general area Tuli on December 10. According to a press release from the HQ IGAR (N), based on specific input, the Assam Rifles launched an operation and apprehended two persons recovering 200 cases of Rum amounting to approximately Rs 8 lakh. The apprehended persons along with the recovered items have been handed over to Tuli Police station, for further investigation, the release added.
DEO Zbto informs GHS headmasters
Zunheboto, December 10 (MExN): The District Education Officer of Zunheboto, Atovi Sema has informed all the Headmasters of Government High Schools (GHS) under to help their respective feeding schools to print out confidential papers for conducting class 8 examination. They have also been requested to give proper instructions to the Head Teachers, as per the guidelines of the NBSE, for conducting Board examination from their own schools.
COPU meeting on December 15
Kohima, December 10 (MExN): Mhathung Yanthan, Chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings (COPU), Nagaland Legislative Assembly has convened a meeting of the Committee on December 15 at 11:00 am in the Assembly Committee Room. The meeting has been called to discuss and deliberate on the Tour Report of the Committee to the Mini Cement Plant (MCP) at Wazeho and also for consideration and adoption of the 94th, 95th and 96th Reports of the Committee pertaining to NIDC and NIRMSC under the Department of Industries and Commerce. All the members of the Committee have been requested to attend the proposed meeting on the date and time as indicated.
D.El.Ed final year offline exam concluded
Kohima, December 10 (MExN): The Nagaland D.El.Ed final year (2018-20 batch) offline exam which started on December 2 concluded On December 10. The exam was conducted with strict adherence to all the guidelines and SOP given by the concerned department. The exam for final year was conducted at 11 different exam centers including SCERT which was the additional exam center.
