
Dimapur Police informs on restrictions on Feb 21
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): In view of a VVIP visit to Chumoukedima on February 21, the Dimapur Police has issued several restrictions from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm of February 21 within Dimapur and Chumoukedima districts due to security concerns. A notice from the Dimapur Police issued a prohibition on use of any kind of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) like drones etc; conduct of any kind of firing practice by security forces/civil police/central police/private firing range or any civilian holder of licensed fire arms. It further banned bursting of any kind of firecrackers. As the notice cannot be served individually on all concerned, the order is, hereby, passed ex-parte due to security exigency, it added.
DNSU condemns Feb 18 Dimapur violence
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) today said that it is “extremely disturbed” by the incident which took place on the evening of February 18 at Indisen village. A press release from the union urged all parties to “maintain a peaceful atmosphere and abstain from such anti-social activities which are disruptive to the process of a free and fair election.” “Most importantly, such disruptive actions by the campaigners at this time when the students of Class 10 and 12 are in serious preparation for their upcoming HSLC and HSSLC examinations is a vital concern for DNSU as it terrifies and disturbs the students,” it stated. The union condemned the incident which it stated “is unanticipated and uncalled for in a civilized society.” It asked the concerned citizens to maintain the true spirit of a peaceful election.
NCRC condemns use of sacred phrase for election campaign
DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): The Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) has condemned the use of Christian liturgical sacred phrase like 'Praise the Lord' and 'Haliluyah' in election campaigns. “These terms are for worship of the Almighty God Jehovah, and cannot go together with 'Bharat Mata ki jai' which is the expression of the worship of motherland as a female god by Hindus,” a press release from General Secretary of the NCRC, Rev Dr Kiyezhie Chishi stated. It meanwhile appealed to all “believers” to “pray for clean election; that is clean voting, for clean candidate from clean party.”
Kiphire Police holds meeting with political parties
KIPHIRE, FEBRUARY 20 (MExN): An all party meeting with the Kiphire Police was held in the office chamber of the SP Kiphire on February 20. The meeting was attended by party members and office bearers from the BJP, NDPP, NPP, RPI and the INC, informed a press release from the Additional SP Kiphire.
During the meeting, SP Kiphire, K Swarnambika, IPS welcomed all the office bearers and members from various parties to the meeting. She congratulated and appreciated the good work done by the parties in ensuring that campaigning's are being done in a very peaceful and democratic manner till date. She asked them to provide the same kind of co-operation to the district police till the completion of the election process. The members of the Political Parties also expressed their gratitude to the police department for initiating such a meeting. They requested the SP Kiphire to ensure that messages or news spreading on the social media be properly authenticated before taking action.
