DIPR designates appellate authority, PIO, and APIO

KOHIMA, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Nagaland, has reconstituted and designated officers under the Right to Information Act, 2005. The appellate Authority (AA) consists of Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary, DIPR and Department of Coorporation. The Public Information Officer (PIO) is Küsa Fithu, Additional Secretary, DIPR; along with Tiakumba Jamir, Deputy Secretary, DIPR as Assistant Public Information Officer (APIO).

 

Proposal to rename Ao-Settsü village to Settsü

Mokokchung, February 27 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, IAS, has issued a public notification regarding the proposal to rename Ao-Settsü Village to Settsü Village, initiated by the Village Council. Villagers under the administrative jurisdiction of EAC, Ongpangkong Circle, are invited to submit written objections to the DC’s office within 30 days from the notification date. If no objections are received, the proposal will be treated as having ‘No Objection’ and forwarded for government approval.

 

Pughoboto SDPDB meeting on March 6

Pughoboto, February 27 (MExN): Additional Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman SDPDB, Meyazungba Jamir, NCS, has announced that the monthly SDPDB meeting for March will be held on March 6 at 11:00 AM at the New Administrative Complex Conference Hall, Pughoboto, Zunheboto. All board members have been requested to attend the meeting.

 

Wapher Village Council condoles

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 27 (MExN): The Wapher Village Council has expressed condolences regarding the death of one Buinet Wongto, son of Yunglem from K hudu village, Tuensang, who died on 19 February 2026 at Hamro Nu Wildlife Preservation Forest under the council’s jurisdiction. It also condemned the incident that led to his death.  A press release from the council said that the incident occurred during illegal hunting, despite repeated prohibitions issued by the Village Council. The accused is reportedly responsible for involuntary manslaughter in connection with the case, the council stated. It expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and reiterated that hunting and fishing are strictly prohibited within its jurisdiction. The council has also warned that any individuals or groups found violating these rules will face stern action as determined by the customary court of Wapher Village. The council said that it will not be held responsible for any future untoward incidents that may occur in the area due to such prohibited activities.
