
Public informed on firing practice at Wokha town
DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): The 40th Assam Rifles stationed in Wokha has announced the commencement of firing tests/practices at the Assam Rifle Firing Range (New Land), Wokha. The practice sessions will take place from July 15-31. In this regard, all adjoining colonies and villages within the 40th Assam Rifles firing range area have been requested to ensure their distance from the firing range/zone. This precautionary measure is essential to prevent any potential harm to human lives, livestock, and property, a DIPR report informed.
Wokha DPDB meeting on July 18
DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): Vice Chairman DPDB, Wokha, and Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Ranjan informed all board members that the monthly District Planning & Development Board meeting will be held on July 18 at the DC conference hall in Wokha at 11 AM. Therefore, all the members have been requested to attend the meeting positively.
Aboi DPDB meet emphasizes on proper usage of plastic
DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): The District Planning & Development Board meeting for July in Aboi was presided over by ADC, Phuleshe K Yepthomi on July 12 at the ADC Conference Hall. Urging attendees to reinforce public awareness of plastic usage and disposal, ADC Yepthomi expressed concerns over the inadequate adherence to previous instructions. During the meeting, MLA Manpon K Konyak, through Konyak Union president, Konwang Konyak, directed HoDs to address departmental issues such as staff vacancies, transfers, and allocation discrepancies. The meeting also resulted in the decision to organize an inter-departmental tournament in October 2023.
Rising theft cases, residents cautioned
DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): Following an increase in theft cases within Longleng town and nearby areas, the Longleng district administration has issued a cautionary note to residents. According to a DIPR report, the public has been advised to exercise caution and vigilance when purchasing items from unfamiliar shops or unknown individuals. Any suspicious activity should be promptly reported to the police. Individuals deliberately involved in the purchase, sale, or disposal of stolen items will face legal consequences under Section 411 of the Indian Penal Code 1860, including potential imprisonment of up to three years, fines, or both, the DIPR report stated.
Online registration for JNV in Longleng
DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): Deputy Commissioner, Longleng has notified for online registration process for admission to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) for the academic session 2024-2025, specifically for Class VI. The selection test will be conducted on November 4, 2023 and January 20, 2024. Prospective candidates who wish to apply for admission have been advised to visit the official website http://navodaya.gov.in/ to download the application form and complete the registration process. The deadline for submitting applications is August 10, 2023. By announcing the registration dates in advance, the DC’s office aims to facilitate a smooth and organized application process for interested candidates, the DIPR report informed.

FGN terminates two
Dimapur, July 13 (MExN): The Office of the Commander in Chief, Federal Government of Nagaland has terminated Major Jacob Krocha (Kohima Town Commander) and Captain Mulevo Khesho for violation of the Chapter 14. Article 1 Clouse (a) of the Naga Army Rules and Regulation as disciplinary action on grounds of misusing Government funds. Lt Gen TM Rhakho C-in-C Naga Army FGN in a press release said that any Individual or groups dealing with them on behalf of the government will be doing so at their own risk.
KMC revises price of Broiler Chicken
Kohima, July 13 (MExN): In partial modification of the office order and owing to stabilization of supply in the market, the Kohima Municipal Council (MC) has revised the rate of Broiler Chicken at the rate of Rs 210 per kg within the Kohima Municipal Council Jurisdiction. “This comes into force w.e.f. July 13, 2023 till further order,” T Lanusenla Longkumer, Administrator, KMC stated in the order.
Manipur: MBCA resents proposed UCC
Tadubi, July 13 (MExN): The Mao Baptist Churches Association (MBCA), Mao Naga Tribe, Manipur, has expressed its strong resentment towards the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in India, “as it fringes the fundamental right concerning religion, and tribal custom and practices. MBCA Executive Secretary, Rev A Pfokrelo in a press release stated that ‘Christianity being deeply rooted to the scriptures as the base for personal law, should not be replaced by a common law.’ He added, “The tribal customs and religion of the Mao Naga tribe are inseparable.” Therefore, the MBCA appealed to the government of India to safeguard the interest of the people while implementing the law. “Tribal people in India particularly Mao Naga tribe and other communities should be exempted from the proposed UCC,” the associated reiterated.
