
Akavi Chishi refutes allegations
Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): In response Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) June 8 statement on termination of I Akavi Chishi from position of Chaplee Kilonser, Chishi issued a counter rejoinder denying “any act of misconduct, dishonesty, or failure in the discharge of his official responsibilities.” Chishi, in a press release, stated that “the accusations leveled against him—such as lack of engagement and failure to submit funds—are not only misleading but also maliciously framed to tarnish his character.” He said that “such serious allegations were made without due process, proper investigation, or even an opportunity” him to be heard. “Such arbitrary actions undermine the very foundation of justice and collective governance that Naga National Council/Federal Government of Nagaland (NNC/FGN) claims to uphold.” The release also demanded that “If Chishi is to be judged, let it be through an open and impartial inquiry, based on facts and records—not through one-sided public declarations aimed at silencing honest voices.” While reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to serve the Naga cause with integrity, Chishi said “he remains open to any fair and legitimate process of accountability.”
Three terminated for ‘financial misconduct’
Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): In the interest of “discipline and accountability,” the Naga Army under Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has taken decisive action against “financial misconduct” within its ranks, Maj Gen, Langshe Deputy Commander-in-Chief, Naga Army FGN in press release on Thursday. It said that “pursuant to the powers conferred by Army rules and regulations, and with full authority vested in this office, the following officers have been terminated from service with immediate effect for misusing Central Finance funds without the knowledge or approval of the Chaplee (Finance) Ministry: Colonel Kuveshevo Venuk – 5th Brigade, native of Phek Village; Brigadier Verato Chuzo – Platoon 13, 5th Brigade, native of Teyetsu Village; Lieutenant Colonel Dikhomo – 5th Brigade, native of Chizoma Village.” The terminations take effect from June 12. “Any misuse of public or central funds will not be tolerated and will be met with strict consequences,” the release added.
Wokha: 39-hour road closure for repairs
Wokha, June 12 (MExN): The general public has been informed that in view of repairing of road from Y Junction (way to DC official residence Wokha) there will be complete ban on movement of vehicle along the said stretch of road from 3:00 pm on June 13 till 6 am June 15. The Deputy Commissioner, Wokha has advised commuters to take the road from WTBC junction to Wokha Block Office road and vice versa during the Road repair period.
DVC reaffirms ban on tax collection
Darogapathar, June 12 (MExN): Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) has reaffirmed its ban on all tax collection by Naga Political Groups (NPGs) from businesses or village households within its jurisdiction. The resolution was originally passed on August 18, 2016. DVC issued a press release reiterating its stand on ‘One Government, One Tax.’ DVC also cautioned that any sort of checking on expiry dates of consumable items, weighing machine or scale, rates etc would require prior approval from the council. Unauthorised individuals or groups conducting such inspections without the knowledge of the council will face strict legal consequences, it added.
