
DDCF holds consultative meeting
Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens' Forum (DDCF) held a consultative meeting at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur on June 27, bringing together interim office bearers, executive members, presidents and chairmen of affiliated organisations, and advisors to deliberate on strengthening the Forum’s role in local governance.
During the meeting, leaders of the member organisations underscored the need to reinforce the DDCF as a platform for safeguarding the rights and welfare of all genuine settlers in Dimapur, irrespective of tribal or community affiliation. Participants also discussed the implementation of the Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Dimapur, emphasizing that the process should be “people-friendly” and considerate of the district’s diverse demographic, which includes both literate and illiterate populations.
Dimapur Bongs mourns
Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): Members of Dimapur Bongs mourned the passing of Surajit Das, affectionately known as Apu Da, who died on June 27 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Surajit Das was one of the founding members of Dimapur Bongs, a local Bengali community group. He was remembered for his unwavering dedication, wisdom, and compassion, and continued to serve the organization until his final days, the group said in a condolence message. He is survived by his mother, wife, and two young children. The group expressed its condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace.
GPRN/NNC (AB) informs
DIMAPUR, JUNE 29 (MExN): The GPRN/NNC (AB) has suspended for a period of 6 month the acting Chief of Army Alu Yimkhiung from national service for “violation of the Yizabo and financial mismanagement.” A press release from the MIP of the group said informed all government and private business establishment that “in pursuance of the Cabinet decision and Tatar Hoho held in October 2024, all taxes or donations will be issued only by the convenor finance committee.” “No letter of tax or donation should be issued by any GPRN/NNC (AB) officials except on authorisation,” it added.
Sitimi cluster level federation holds 1st AGM
Kiphire, June 29 (MExN): The first Annual General Meeting of the Sitimi Cluster Level Federation under BMMU Sitimi, promoted by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM), was held at Nitoi Village on June 27.
Speaking at the event, Limtimong Tikhir, Block Programme Manager (BPM) of BMMU Sitimi, spoke on the importance of cooperation through collective efforts, stating that the federation is committed to sharing knowledge and supporting one another toward empowerment. He also highlighted the need for proper record maintenance. “The meticulous maintenance of books of record will ensure transparency and accountability within the federation,” he said, further calling for integration across thematic areas to create “holistic solutions” to diverse community needs.
Ripise Sangtam, BPM BMMU Kiphire, stressed the importance of local ownership in developmental efforts. “By taking charge of their own initiatives and decisions, only then will they be able to demonstrate their commitment to their own development and the success of their federations,” she said. She also underscored the importance of regular monthly meetings to enable planning, review, and collective goal setting, and called for convergence with other line departments to enhance access to resources and strengthen sustainable development outcomes. The programme was moderated by Kiyekali, Assistant General Secretary of the Cluster Level Federation from Honito Village, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Vilika from Nikiye Village.
