School girl allegedly raped at New Jalukie
Peren, May 6 (MExN): A school girl was allegedly raped at New Jalukie, Peren on May 5. Condemning the incident, Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Nagaland (ZSU (N)) stated that the union vehemently condemned such notorious act meted out to “one of our student from our Peren District, who was physically assaulted and heartlessly raped. Such act to an innocent girl must be publicly condemned by all the sensible citizens and should be labeled as "a cowardice act”.” ZSU (N) has urged upon the authority to award befitting punishment for such heinous crime which is an utmost intolerance and unacceptable in the present day society. “Union also pledged for justice to the victim and her family and also urged the concerned authority to take stern action as per the provision of law against such heinous crime,” it added.
DNSU 2nd Union Assembly
Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students' Union (DNSU) 2nd Union Assembly for the tenure 2021-2023 is scheduled on May 7 at the conference Hall, Tourist Lodge, Dimapur at 1:00 pm. Therefore, all the constituent unit president, general secretary, executive members, and seniors of DNSU have been requested to attend the assembly.
Kohima Press Club election today
Kohima, May 6 (MExN): The Kohima Press Club (KPC) will hold the election to the executive council of the club for the tenure of 2022-25 on May 7 in the DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima DC Office Complex, Kohima at 10:00 am. The KPC Election Commission 2022 has informed in a press release the election will be conducted for the post of President, Vice President, General Secretary, Joint Secretary, Treasurer and Joint Secretary – for the tenure of 2022-2025.
NPF 20 A/C Meluri joins NDPP en masse
Meluri, May 6 (MExN): The Naga People’s Front (NPF) 20 A/C Meluri had “unanimously agreed and dissolved the organisation with immediate effect and also resigned in mass from both Primary and active membership of NPF and respective positions to join NDPP en masse.” A press release issued by Kiita, Press Secretary, NPF 20 A/C Meluri stated the area unit office bearers, advisory board members, youth wing office bearers, woman wing office bearer’s, farmers wing office bearers, village unit office bearers, and all the party men and women held an emergency on May 6 at Meluri Town Hall at 10:00 am. During the meeting, the members resolved to join NDPP en masse following Yitachu, MLA to support and strengthen the leadership of Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister and Chingwang Konyak, President, NDPP.

FGN mourns
Kohima, May 6 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has mourned the demise of Captain, Mukito of Losami village who passed away on May 5 at Bade village. He joined National Defence Service on July 14, 2004. He faithfully served the nation till his last breathe. His untimely demise was a great loss for the unit and for the 5th Brigade SIC Naga Army, stated a press note issued by Maj Gen Apo Rhakho, GOC Southern Command, Naga Army, FGN. “May the Almighty God grant peace and solace to the bereaved family members and relatives at this hour of grief,” it added.
NSCM (IM) condoles
Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed sadness over the untimely demise of Capt (Retd) Pukhato Chishi, Tatar of Zutovi village under UT, on May 4 after a prolong illness. As per a condolence note issued by the MIP, NSCN (IM), late Pukhato joined the National service in the year 1962 and was appointed as Leacy in 2015. “He served the nation with full dedication till his last breathe as Tatar. For his tireless service and sacrifice his name will be cherished and recorded in the pages of Naga history,” it said, adding, “May God grant peace to the soul of Capt. (Retd) Pukhato Chishi, rest in peace!”
NPP Phomching AC informs
Phomching, May 6 (MExN): The National People’s Party (NPP) of the 44 Phomching Assembly Constituency informed the party workers has decided to ‘repose faith’ on Chingsak Konyak as the consensus candidate from the constituency. It was decided during a meeting of the Executive Committee members of the ex-candidate of the NPP (Chingsak) on May 4, a press release from its president TM Nokcha. “The Party workers are firm on our stand to support him at all cost to follow his leadership on whichever party he contest,” it added.
