KMC awareness prog today

Kohima, November 17 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) informed that an Awareness-cum-Sensitization Programme on “Compost Food Waste at Home" organized by Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) in collaboration with KMC will be held on November 18 at KMC office at 11:00 AM. Stating this, KMC chief executive officer T. Lanusenla Longkumer requested all concerned households/beneficiaries selected for the training to attend the same positively.

Indian Dental Association Nagaland condoles

Kohima, November 17 (MExN): The Indian Dental Association, Nagaland State Branch (IDANSB), has expressed grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Dr. Savi Naleo, a senior dental surgeon under the Department of Health & Family Welfare (NHM) and a dedicated member of the association. Dr. Naleo passed away on November 15, 2024, at Bethesda, Kohima. In a condolence message, the association described Dr. Naleo as a sincere and dedicated professional who passionately advocated for optimal patient care. “He was a fatherly figure, a loving brother, and a wonderful colleague. His selfless contributions to the association and the medical field will be deeply cherished,” the statement read. The association acknowledged the void left by Dr. Naleo’s passing, emphasizing that his absence will be felt profoundly within the dental fraternity. The message extended heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Naleo's family, including his wife, Mrs. Adi Naleo, and their children, Videto, Pricilla, and Todi.

Paint shops for festive season: KMC

Kohima, November 17 (MExN): In view of the forthcoming festive season, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all the shopkeepers and business establishments within KMC to clean as well as paint the front side of their respective shops facing the road with white paint. They have also been asked to put up proper lighting including decorative lights on or before November 22. This was stated in a circular issued by KMC chief executive officer T. Lanusenla Longkumer.

Unidentified body recovered in Dimapur railway track

Dimapur, November 17 (MExN): An unidentified male, estimated to be around 40-45 years old, was found dead after being run over by a train near Dimapur on November 16. At approximately 10:35 PM, the Government Railway Police Station (GRPS), Dimapur, received a written memo from the Station Manager of NF Railway Dimapur informing them of the tragic incident. Upon reaching the scene, located between Dimapur and Kohima (KM 260/6-7), GRPS officers discovered the body of a non-local male lying on the tracks. The deceased was wearing black track pants and a black vest. The body has been shifted to the District Hospital morgue for post-mortem and identification after completing all necessary legal procedures. Authorities are urging the public to contact the Officer-in-Charge of GRPS, Dimapur, at 7085055021 if they have any information regarding the identity of the deceased.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Zunheboto observes Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas

Zunheboto, November 17 (MExN): The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Zunheboto, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, observed Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas at Olympic Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto, to commemorate the birth anniversary of tribal leader and freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Speaking at the event, Zakato L. Zhimo, NYKS Zunheboto, highlighted the contributions of Birsa Munda, an iconic figure in India’s independence movement. Born into the Munda tribe, Birsa Munda led a tribal millenarian movement against British rule in the Bengal Presidency (now Jharkhand) in the late 19th century. The movement, centered in regions such as Khunti, Tamar, Sarwada, and Bandgaon, marked a significant chapter in India’s resistance against colonial oppression. Zhimo encouraged the students to actively participate in such events and learn about India’s rich history and its freedom fighters.
