
Compensation scheme for hit & run victims operationalised
DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 24 (MExN): The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) and Chief Executive Officer of Mokokchung Municipal Council, Chumlamo Humtsoe, has announced the operationalization of the Compensation to Victims of Hit and Run Motor Accident Scheme. While the scheme was effective from April 1, 2022, it did not achieve the expected level of implementation. In response, the Government of India’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has sought the cooperation of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) to enhance awareness at the grassroots level. The ministry has urged ULBs to promote the scheme widely, sensitize officials, provide assistance to hit-and-run victims, and conduct local awareness campaigns through various media outlets to ensure the scheme reaches those in need.
Chandel Naga Chiefs oppose Indo-Myanmar border fencing
Senapati, October 24 (MExN): The Naga Chiefs’ Association Chandel (NCAC) has strongly opposed the fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border in Naga-inhabited areas of Manipur. In a press release issued by NCAC President T.S. Ruwngwar and General Secretary Isaac Shilshi, the association affirmed its stance against any attempt by the state or other entities to construct a border fence within the Naga territories of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts. The NCAC emphasized its support for the resolution passed by the Naga Village Chiefs’ Association Manipur, which also opposes the fencing project. The association made it clear that such construction would not be allowed in areas traditionally inhabited by Nagas.
STO Chümoukedima informs
Chümoukedima, October 24 (MExN): The The Senior Treasury Officer (STO) Chümoukedima has informed pensioners that the annual Physical Verification for the year 2024 will be conducted from November 11-14. In this connection, pensioners have been requested to present themselves for the verification process with their Life Verification Certificate and other relevant documents during the specified dates. No cases will be entertained beyond the stipulated dates and failure to comply may result in the withholding of pension payments, the STO added. Life certificates and PPO books will be issued from November 1 during office hours.
GPRN/NSCN terminates services of Tokiho Aye
Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The GPRN/NSCN has terminated Tokiho Aye from active National Service on October 17 for what it described as “conduct of anti-party and anti-government activities.”
According to the ‘Termination Order’ issued by GPRN/NSCN, Aye, who was also Advisors to the Collective Leadership (under suspension) was found “guilty of repeatedly breaching the ‘Party Discipline’ (A-DISCIPLINE) clause - 1,2; (C-SECURITY) clause 1 and 6.”
“Maintenance of the national security is the sacred obligation of every member,” stated the order issued by the MIP GPRN/NSCN under General (Retd) MB Neokpao Konyak and Ato Kilonser Alezo Venuh.
DDAPT bi-yearly meeting on Oct 26
Dimapur, October 24 (MExN): The 40th bi-yearly annual general meeting of the Dimapur District Ao Pensioner's Telungjem (DDAPT) will take place on October 26 at 10 AM, hosted at the residence of Treasurer Lepzuk Jamir, near Livingstone Higher Secondary School, Kevijau Colony, Dimapur. The meeting will feature presentations on the aims and objectives of the Nagaland Pensioner's Association (NPA) and DDAPT, along with the annual reports on general matters, auditing, and nominations. Discussions will primarily focus on the pensioner commuted loan recovery schemes. All bona fide members of DDAPT are requested to attend the meeting without fail.
