Tuensang Police make multiple drug busts
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): Tuensang Police has informed that it conducted a series of operations to seize drugs and made arrests in the process. A press release from the PRO, Tuensang Police informed that on August 18, they recovered approximately 34.11 grams of suspected heroin and 1,757 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules from the possession of one person while intercepting a night super bus bound for Tuensang. On August 26, based on information from source regarding a drug peddler heading to Tuensang from Dimapur, the QRT Crime Branch intercepted a night super and recovered approximately 44.28 grams of suspected heroin from the possession of one cadre of NSCN (R) Akato. In another case on August 29, the OfficerIn Charge of PS Tuensang arrested a woman for selling illicit liquor. The party recovered the 48 cans of beer, 2 bottle of whiskey. On August 31, while conducting MVCP at OP Chare Jurisdiction, the party recovered and seized 96 bottles rum from a night super bus. In this connection one person was arrested.
ANCSU mourns
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has expressed sorrow at the demise of Lima Jamir, former Games & Sports Secretary, ANCSU 2009-2011, who passed away on September 5. “With the untimely demise of Lima Jamir, the students’ fraternity and the Naga society in general have lost a brilliant leader, who held a towering personality and had rendered his remarkable service in various organizations. His contribution and sacrifices towards the upliftment of the students’ community will be remembered in days to come. His wealth of wisdom and experience will not be easily replaced and his presence will be truly missed,” a press release from the ANCSU stated. It further extended condolences to the bereaved family.
AR, Khm Police seize drugs worth Rs 24 lakhs
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The Assam Rifles in collaboration with the Kohima Police apprehended one person and seized 5,000 “contraband tablets” on September 6. A press release from the PRO, IGAR (N) informed that acting on specific intelligence, the Quick Reaction Team of Assam Rifles, in collaboration with police representatives from Police Station (South), Kohima, swiftly launched an operation to intercept and seize the illegal drugs on the night of September 6, a Mobile Vehicle Check Post was set up by Assam Rifles to monitor the movement of drugs in the region. A significant haul of 5000 contraband tablets was seized, the press release added. It informed that the seized drugs is worth Rs 27 lakhs.
FGN issues directive
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has directed all Midan Peyus, Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) to make a clear list of the “martyrs” among NNC/FGN workers and submit it to the Ministry of Rali Wali, FGN on or before October 2 “to meet the urgent needs of the Government.” This was informed in a press release from Captain (Retd) Yirei Lungleng, Rali Wall Kilonser, FGN.
Unidentified body of woman found in Dimapur
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 7 (MExN): Dimapur Police recovered the unidentified dead body of a woman on September 6 below Old Dhansiri Bridge, Dimapur. A press release from the PRO, Dimapur Police informed that the individual could not be identified as the body was highly decomposed. The unidentified female was found wearing multi-coloured kurta (Ash green, pink and white coloured), bluish coloured petticoat, two pieces of red coloured bangles with golden coloured dots and greenish nail polish on the left middle finger. On completion of all legal formalities the dead body has been shifted to District Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination and identification. During post mortem examination the doctor stated that the age of the deceased may be between 20 to 30 years (approximately). The police has informed claimants/relatives/friends of the deceased to contact the Officer-in-Charge, Women PS, Dimapur (Mobile No. 7085055027).
