
ANTA asks Nagaland govt to pay dues owed for poll duty
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) has asked the Government of Nagaland for immediate disbursement of the full amount to the entitled taxi drivers and owners in all the districts of Nagaland whose taxis were requited for the purpose of security duty during the 14th Nagaland Assembly Election, 2023. The association held meeting and notified the competent authority on numerous occasions, as such for a period of 6 months straight, a press release from the ANTA stated. “However, our request was totally ignored and disregarded. This cold gesture of the competent authority is not a welcoming impression,” it added. The ANTA said that the union will stop all future cooperation with the Government of Nagaland with regard to election matters if the dues are not paid.
FGN informs
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has informed that the monthly authority meeting of the Naga National Council (NNC) and the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) will be held on September 25 at 10:00 am at Transit Peace Camp (TPC), Kohima. All the eligible Central authorities, Regional authorities and Naga Army officers of the NNC/FGN have been requested to positively attend the meeting with vital agendas.
KMC informs dog owners
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has informed the public that all dogs within municipality jurisdiction should be vaccinated and kept chained within the premises of the house. “Of late it has been observed that dogs are being let loose and are found to be freely roaming around the tom which is creating nuisance as well as putting the safety of the public at risk,” a press release from the KMC stated. It asked all dogs owners to confine their dogs in their compound at all times, and if the dog is taken outside, the same has to be done on a leash. It also mentioned that the Dog Pound at Chaü Parking is temporarily suspended at the moment due to technical issues, thus preventing KMC to impound stray dogs. The KMC requested all the ward panchayats and citizens to co-operate in keeping the town clean and safe till an alternate dog pound facility is arranged.
NLA-PAC meeting on Sept 26
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 14 (MExN): MLA & Chairman of the Committee on Public Accounts, Mhathung Yanthan has convened the oral evidence meeting of the Public Accounts Committee, Nagaland Legislative Assembly with the departmental representatives at 11:00 am on September 26. The Departments of Justice & Law, PWD (Housing) will be taken up during the meeting. The committee will take oral evidence on the Audit para (s) of the government departments on the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India on the General, Economic and Revenue Sectors for the year 2018-2019. Therefore, all the AHoDs and the HoDs of the concerned departments have been informed to be present on the specified dates, to tender evidence before the Committee. All the concerned committee members have been requested to attend meeting on the date and time as aforesaid.
KSU demands investigation into September 9 murder
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) has called upon the Nagaland State Government and the competent authority to act on the “mysterious murder case” of late Wango whose body was recovered on September 9 at Khatkhati Karbi Anglong, Assam, which is 8 km away from Dimapur. As per the report to the union, the deceased was set for a journey and booked his ticket at Blue Hill bus counter Dimapur on September 6 and was supposed to reach Mon on September 7. However, he went missing at the time of bus departure only to be found brutally murdered after two days, a press release from the KSU informed. The union condemned the inhuman and barbaric act and cautioned that “the truth will prevail and justice shall be delivered against all the accused involved in due time.” The union appealed to the law enforcing agency to immediately arrest and penalize the criminals as per the law.
Payment of pensions in Kohima from Sept 20
Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The District Welfare Officer (DWO) Kohima informed all the beneficiaries under National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP); Indira Gandhi National Old Pension Scheme/Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme/Indira Gandhi National Disability Scheme and State Old Age Pension that payment for the remaining six months for the year 2001-2022 will be disbursed in the office of DWO Kohima from September 20. This was stated in a release issued by Akali Sema, DWO, Kohima.
September 16 holiday for govt offices in Kohima
Kohima, September 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department, General Administration Branch II today informed that the Governor of Nagaland has declared September 16 as a holiday for the State Government offices located in Kohima in lieu of the declaration of working day on September 9 for the 2nd session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. This was stated in a press release issued by Nagaland Chief Secretary, J Alam.
NBSE announces tentative exam schedule for 2024
KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Nagaland Board of School Education has released a notification to inform all educational institutions that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC), Class XI Promotion, and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations for the year 2024 are tentatively scheduled to begin in the 3rd week of February 2024 and may conclude by the 2nd week of March 2024. Registered schools have been requested to take note of these dates and plan their academic activities accordingly. It is important that students are also made aware of these tentative examination dates so they can prepare and organize their studies for the upcoming examinations, the NBSE stated. Additionally, it has been announced that the Phase II Examinations for Class VIII & IX for the year 2023 will commence from December 2, 2023.

Sales Day held in NU Lumami
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): The Women Technology Park-Incubation Hub, Nagaland University, Lumami Campus organised a sales day on September 14 at the I Ihoshe Kinini Hall from 10:00 am onwards. The sales day was organised with the aim to provide the space and an opportunity to the farmers, local artisans, self help groups from neighbouring villages and upcoming entrepreneurs to sell their products as well as to showcase their wares. The programme was chaired by Dr Neizhanuo Golmei, member secretary, WTP. A short speech was delivered by the Finance Officer and Registrar I/C, Albert N Khizho and the Vice Chancellor, Prof Jagadish K Patnaik inaugurated the event. Several farmers, local artisans, self help groups from neighbouring villages and upcoming entrepreneurs from the staff and student community participated in the event.
Restriction imposed on Changtongya-Longleng road
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 15 (MExN): In response to significant landslides and rockfalls near the Dikhu Bridge along the Chantongya-Longleng road, all vehicular movement, including Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be restricted starting from September 15, between 7:00 A.M and 6:00 P.M, until further notice. Travelers have been advised to avoid using this route during the specified restriction timing, and instead use the alternative Longleng - Chingtok (IR Camp) - Merangkong - Netnyu road.
