Land compensation ‘wrongly paid,’ Kohima HC directs recovery

Kohima, September 21 (MExN): The Kohima High Court, on September 21, directed the State Government to recover the “wrongly paid” land compensation money and disburse the recovered amount to the petitioner, who had approached the Court regarding the issue.
The petitioner, a resident of Losatephe Village, Phek, approached the Court seeking compensation for his land acquired by the State respondents.
According to the petitioner, the State respondents “wrongly paid the land compensation” to another individual from Losami Village, impleaded as a private respondent in the case. After hearing submissions of all parties, Justice Kakheto Sema observed that the issue could be resolved by the Government by recovering the money from the private respondent and disbursing the same to the "lawful land owner, i.e., the petitioner."
‘The State respondents shall accordingly take steps to recover the amount wrongly paid to the private respondent and disburse the recovered amount to the petitioner,’ he directed. The private respondent was also directed to “take steps in recovering the amount which he has wrongly received from the Government.”
The State respondents were further asked to recover the amount at the “earliest possible date” and file a report on the steps taken in four weeks.
The State of Nagaland is represented by the Chief Secretary; Commissioner Nagaland; Deputy Commissioner Phek; Sub-Divisional Officer(Civil); and Chairman Village Council Losatephe Village are the State respondents in the case.

Nagaland Govt urged to shift dumpsite near Dimapur's Sunrise Colony

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): The Joint Council Welfare Forum (JCWF) of Ward  3&22 Burma Camp Dimapur has appealed the Government of Nagaland to seriously take up the issue of the shifting of dumpsite site near Dimapur's Sunrise Colony. As per the Forum, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in February has given a one-year deadline to the State Goverment to relocate the garbage disposal site and urged for shifting the same on the stipulated time in the interest of the denizen of the locality and public in general. Further, the JCWF appealed to the Dimapur Municipal Council to adhere to the NGT’s guidelines of Solid Waste Management Rules 2016 & 2020.

ANHTU Dimapur Unit meeting postponed

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers’ Union (ANHTU) Dimapur Unit scheduled general meeting on September 23 has been postponed due to due to Class- 8 & 9 Phase-I examination. The unit informed that the new date for the meeting has been fixed on September 30,11am at its Banker's (HSSPAK Burma Camp) residence.

Pensioners in Wokha from informed

Wohka, September 21 (MExN):  Pensioners drawing pension under Wokha Treasury have been informed to collect their Life Certificate forms from September 25-29.  Submission of forms and physical verification will also be held from October 3 to October 7, informed the State DIPR.  Accordingly, the Senior Treasury Officer Wokha has informed to all the concerned pensioners to follow the scheduled date and attend the annual physical verification without fail.  Bedridden pensioners and those with health issue may write an application addressed to Senior Treasury Officer so as to arrange feasible alternative for the verification.  No payment will be done without the annual physical verification, the officer added.

DEF Kiphire seizes large quantity of IMFL

Kiphire, September 21 (MExN): The personnel of the District Executive Force (DEF), on September 20, recovered large quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) after intercepting one truck based on specific input at High School Area Kiphire. During frisking and checking of the vehicle, 15 case of rum, 100  cases of beer and 15 cases of whiskey were recovered, inofmred a release from the PRO DEF Kiphire. The driver of the truck identified as one Ajibar Rahman of Barbhitha Chhaygaon, village under Kampur, Assam was arrested, while the IMFL and the truck were seized, it said.  A criminal case has been registered at Kiphire Police Station under relevant section of the NLTP Act, it added.  

Security forces arrests NSCN (IM) cadre

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): Acting on specific intelligence input, a joint operation by the Assam Rifles and Suburban Police Station, Dimapur apprehended a cadre of NSCN (IM) in the general area of Half Nagarjan, Dimapur. According to a press release from HQ IGAR (N), the cadre of NSCN (IM) was found carrying one 7.65 mm pistol and drugs.  The cadres along with seized items were handed over to Police, it added.

Assam police bust fake currency note network, arrests three

Guwahati, September 21 (IANS): As part of its drive against the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), the Assam police arrested three persons and seized a sizable number of fake notes from their possession, officials said on Thursday. According to police, the operation was conducted as a result of a specific intelligence report that counterfeit currency was being sold at 14th Mile in Jorabat area in the outskirts of Guwahati city.
Officials were able to confiscate notes with a face value of Rs 2 lakh during the first drive. According to the police, all of the notes were in denominations of Rs 500.
The two arrested people have been named as Abdul Kadir, 32, of Gohaindoloni Village and Samir Uddin, 35, of Ahmedpur Village, both of whom are residents of the Bihpuria Police Station in the North Lakhimpur district.
During the raid, police also seized three mobile phones from the duo's hands. In another raid, police arrested a person named Rabi Ali, a resident of Golaghat in Assam. He was found to be in possession of fake Rs 500 notes worth Rs 3.33 lakh, which the police were able to recover. Police are questioning all three in order to learn more about the case, according to officials.

Agartala-bound passenger held for trying to open emergency exit midair

Agartala, September  21 (IANS): A passenger on an IndiGo flight was arrested on Thursday at the Agartala airport for allegedly trying to open the emergency exit door of the aircraft midair and misbehaving with the crew members, the police said. Tripura police spokesman Jyotisman Das Chowdhury said that Biswajit Debnath (41) was flying on a Guwahati-Agartala IndiGo flight when he tried to open the emergency exit of the aircraft before his co-passengers pulled him back.
“When the crew members asked him to take his seat, Debnath misbehaved with them. The co-passengers alleged that Debnath was under the influence of drugs,” Das Chowdhury told IANS.   Debnath was arrested by the airport police after the flight landed at the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala.
