NSACS launches CiTY BARN Health Centres in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): The Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) has introduced the CiTY BARN (Catch Them Young – Be Aware, Reach on time, No to unsafe sex behaviour) Health Centres in key locations across Nagaland, including Kohima, Dimapur, Wokha, and Tuensang. These centres are dedicated to providing essential health services to young people under the age of 24, with a focus on counseling, in-house helpdesk support, anonymous Q&A services, and referrals. The Nagaland Board of School Education has informed all registered Heads of Institutions, urging them to share this important resource with teachers and students. The health centres are strategically located in each district to be accessible to those in need. In Kohima, the centre is located at Tinpati on High School Road, while in Dimapur, it is situated near the ANTA Office at Super Market. Wokha's centre can be found in Tsumang Colony, Main Town, and in Tuensang, the centre is located at High School ‘A’ Ward, below AkumImlong School on GHSS Road. Heads of Institutions are encouraged to ensure that students and teachers are aware of these facilities, which are designed to support both physical and mental health needs.

Governor extends Mongmong greetings

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Governor of Nagaland, LA Ganesan, has extended greetings to the Sangtam community on the occasion of Mongmong. In his message, the Governor wished for togetherness, happiness, and prosperity during this special time. "As we celebrate the blessings of the harvest and the richness of our cultural heritage, let's also remember the values of unity and gratitude," Ganesan said, emphasizing the importance of community and tradition. He expressed hopes for a festive season filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of cherished traditions. The Governor also invoked the guidance and protection of the ancestors, wishing for a bountiful year ahead. He encouraged everyone to celebrate with joy and share the spirit of togetherness. Deputy CM Patton greets Sangtam community

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 2 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y. Patton has extended greetings to the Sangtam community on the occasion of the Mungmung festival. Patton highlighted that the six-day celebration is a tribute to the Creator, showcasing the vibrant cultural traditions of the Sangtams. Conveying his festive wishes on behalf of the state BJP legislators, Patton expressed hope that the festival would be celebrated in the true spirit of Mungmung, which signifies 'togetherness forever.'

Excise Dept seizes over 1.75 lakh Alprazolam tablets

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Excise Mobile Squad, while conducting excise and prohibition duties in Chümoukedima, seized a substantial quantity of Alprazolam tablets on the morning of September 1. The squad, led by Assistant Inspector Renbeni Yanthan, intercepted a Mahindra Scorpio with the registration number ASOIFF 3096 near Molvam Village around 8:30 AM. Upon searching the vehicle, the personnel discovered a total of 1,75,140 Alprazolam tablets concealed within the seats and door pockets. The driver, identified as Peter Yim, was unable to produce any license or invoice for the drugs. Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle was en route to Tseminyu, stated a press release from the department. Following the discovery, the accused was booked under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and the case has been forwarded to the court for trial.

Ashaa Village Council calls for general meeting

Wokha, September 2 (MExN): The Ashaa Village Council has announced a general meeting scheduled for September 6 at 11:00 AM. The meeting will be held at the Government Primary School in Ashaa Village. The agenda includes addressing various issues affecting the village. All Council members and residents are required to attend to discuss and deliberate on these concerns, it was informed. 

Roadshow promotes hygiene & cleanliness in Mangkolemba

MANGKOLEMBA, September 2 (MExN): A roadshow emphasizing hygiene and cleanliness was organized by the Mangkolemba Town Council on August 31, 2024, as part of the "Safai Apnao Bimari Bhagao" campaign. The event featured a street play performed by the Mangkolemba Baptist Church Youth Ministry at various locations throughout the town, aiming to raise public awareness on the importance of maintaining hygiene. The roadshow saw active participation from the district administration, newly elected Town Councilors, Goan Buras, and youth members of the Mangkolemba Baptist Church, all of whom took part in the street play.
