TSUD calls for revoking of COVID cess
Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): Tenyimi Students' Union Dimapur (TSUD) has expressed support to the Dimapur Naga Students' Union’s call to stop COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel and revoke the hike.
In a press release on September 14, the TSUD pointed out that it has been five months since the state introduced the cess and said “the citizens are reeling under economic hardships,” and the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices have adversely affected common citizens.
As such, it appealed State Government to understand the plight of its citizens and lift the hike at the earliest.
CNSA meeting on September 16
Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): The Central Nagaland Students’ Association (CNSA) will be conducting an emergency consultative meeting on September 16, 11:00 am at its office chamber in Dimapur. CNSA General Secretary Lipemo Tsopoe has requested all unit presidents and representatives to attend the meeting positively.
DSSU assembly on September 17
Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): The office of the Dimapur Sümi Students' Union has convened its first Union Assembly meeting on September 17, 11:00 am at DSSU Office, Supply Colony. In this regard, Acting Assembly Speaker Tokaho N Awomi has requested all units and sub-units to attend the assembly without fail.
State level training for GPDP on September 16
Kohima, September 14 (MExN): As per the Nagaland state calendar for People's Plan Campaign on Gram Panchayat Plan (GPDP) and Mission Antyodaya Survey 2020, a state level training of Line Department Nodal Officers will be held on September 16, at RD Directorate Conference Hall, Kohima from 12:00 pm onwards. A press release in this regard was issued on Monday by State Nodal Officer for GPDP & Joint Director for Rural Development, K. Neibou Sekhose. All Nodal Officers of the concerned Line Departments have been requested to attend the same positively.
NU observes Hindi Day
Lumami, September 14 (MExN): Nagaland University observed Hindi Diwas through online video conferencing on September 14 at headquarters Lumami.
Updates from the University’s PRO informed that the programme was organised by the Hindi Cell of the University, with Prof MK Sinha, in-charge, Hindi Cell, as the host.
He expounded on the background and birth of Hindi Day as well as the significance of Hindi.
In his address, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Pardeshi Lal highlighted the purpose and importance of celebrating Hindi Diwas. Dr Abemo, Registrar, also addressed the meeting where he pointed out that language and culture play important roles in ensuring people-to-people connection and in making a strong nation.
During the Hindi Fortnight 2020, the Hindi Cell will conduct different competitions through online mode among employees and students of NU as well as KV Lumami, the release stated.
