AASU appeals against ‘transfer with post’

Aboi, September 18 (MExN): The Aboi Area Students’ Union (AASU) has appealed to the Principal Director, Department of School Education, not to make any transfers with post. It also sought clarification on “why the HoD of schools are threatened and warned by the Department for not releasing the incumbents who are transferring with post/without relievers.”

It claimed that such transfers are common in the region and expressed resentment against the practice.

The union expressed its resolve “to fight tooth and nail” against such transfers and held the concerned individual/authority ‘solely responsible’ if such incumbents are released without posting of relievers. The ASSU called on the authorities to genuinely look into the matter in the interest of quality education for the student community. 

Dimapur police arrests two

Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): Dimapur police on September 17 arrested a person on charges of extorting money from truck drivers in the name of NSCN (K). A press note from the police informed that a ‘demand slip’ of NSCN (K) was recovered/seized from the accused who was identified as John Aye of Model Colony Purana Bazar. A case has been registered at the East Police Station Dimapur.

Meanwhile, during routine frisking at New Field Check Gate on the same day, police intercepted a Maruti van bearing registration number AS O4-0826, transporting 16 live pigs from neighbouring Assam. One person identified as Kawidingoubo, of New Jalukie Village was arrested and a case has been registered in West PS Dimapur.

Security forces seize contraband 

Dimapur, September 18 (MExN): Security forces from Dimapur Battalion seized contraband and apprehended one person in connection with the case on September 17.

Based on specific intelligence regarding presence of contraband in general area Supply Colony, Dimapur Battalion along with police representative launched an operation and apprehended an individual along with 210 Spasmo Tablets (worth Rs 5,250), two capsules of Brown Sugar Sunflower (worth Rs 7,000) in addition to Rs 1,82,150 cash, a defence release informed. The apprehended individual along with the seized contraband was handed over to West police station for further investigation, it said.

NSCN (IM) condemns attempt to ‘tarnish’ Naga Army Chief 

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 18 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) today condemned attempts on social media to “tarnish” the image of its Army Chief, General Ningkhan Shimray aka Anthony Shimray. 

A press release from the MIP of the NSCN (IM) informed that there have been instances of “hacking personal Facebook account by certain unscrupulous person and using ICICI bank from Madhya Pradesh, targeting the Naga Army Chief and recklessly pestering him to transfer some money.” “It is understood that this is being done deliberately for the purpose of character assassination as a part of the malicious propaganda against NSCN,” it stated. “The truth shall, however, withstand any wave of adulterated social media contents and no hacking shall prevail over the truth,” the MIP stated.
