
NALSA mobile app for legal access
Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) launched a legal service mobile application for smartphones to make legal services more accessible and help citizens apply for legal aid and seek victim compensation. Launched all over the country earlier in August, the mobile app has features to enable citizens to submit legal aid applications and keep track of their applications/legal aided cases 24x7, a press release from the PRA, Nagaland State Legal Services Authority informed on Tuesday. ‘NALSA: Legal Services’ app can be used for filling applications for victim compensation, it added. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the NSLSA website (https://nslsa.nagaland.gov.in/), the release informed. Further, it said that online filling of legal aid applications, complaints, and grievances can also be done through the NSLSA website.
DVC reiterates ban on taxation
Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) has reiterated its stand on ‘One Government, One Tax’ and ban any tax collection by Naga Political Groups (NPGs) on the business communities or village household within Darogapathar village jurisdiction. DVC in a press release issued by its chairman, K Ado Bizo and secretary, Imjongkumba Jamir stated that the resolution was passed on August 18, 2016. Further, the council also informed that prior approval and permission is mandatory for any kind of checking on expiry dates of consumable items, weighing machine or scale, rates etc. If any individual or groups are found engaging in any such activities without the knowledge of the council, strict legal actions shall be taken against those involved, it stated.
NAAC Peer Team to visit Modern College
Kohima, September 7 (MExN): Modern College Kohima will undergo the 2nd Cycle of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council’s (NAAC) Assessment and Accreditation on September 9 and 10. The NAAC team for the 2nd cycle are Dr Padmanaban Thiyagarajan, former Vice Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University as the Chairperson; Dr Bivraj Bhusan Parida, Professor and Dean, the University of Burdwan, West Bengal as the Member Co-ordinator; and Dr Arunaprakash Peddiraj, Principal, Yadaorao Poshattiwar Arts College, Talodhi, Balapur, Maharashtra as member. The college invites the participation of all its stakeholders to the two day NAAC Assessment and Accreditation process, informed a press release.
NEISSR observes 7th fresher day
Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): The North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Dimapur observed its 7th fresher day on the theme ‘you grow through what you go through’ on September 6.
Gracing the event as special guest, Rev Moses Murry, Chairman, Christian Forum Dimapur expressed confidence in the fresher that they will be motivated and blessed in the institution. Rev Moses reiterated the importance of dreaming big and setting target to achieve during the course. He concluded his message saying, “It is possible to shine and excel in your level.”
A press note received here stated that earlier, NEISSR Principal and Director of Peace Channel, Rev Dr Fr CP Anto delivered the welcome note. Kr Assurance, class representative of 3rd Semester said a short speech on behalf of the students. Fr VJ Joseph ended the program with a benediction.
