DDCF meet on September 11

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum has convened an emergency meeting with all its executive members and office bearers on September 11, 11:00 am at the DDCF office. All the concerned executive members and office bearers are therefore informed to be present at the meeting without fail, the DDCF Media Cell informed in a press release on Wednesday.

DPC mourns

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has mourned the demise of Ramnava Sengupta who was formerly associated with Nagaland Post and Nagaland Today as a journalist. Sengupta breathed his last on September 8 in New Delhi. “The DPC expresses its deepest sympathies to the bereaved family members. May the soul of the departed rest in peace!” it said in a condolence message.

Unidentified body recovered

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): An unidentified dead body, presumably of a non-local aged about 35-40 years, was recovered from a Saw Mill at Chümoukedima Neiphrolie Colony on September 6, the Dimapur Police informed on Wednesday. After observing all the necessary formalities, the dead bosy was shifted to Dimapur Civil Hospital for post mortem examination, the Dy Commissioner of Police (Crime) and PRO, informed. Claimants, relatives, or friends of the deceased have been requested to contact the officer-in-charge, Chümoukedima Police Station. 

YAA federal assembly on September 15

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The 55th Federal Assembly and felicitation programme of the Yimkhiüng  Akherü Arihako (YAA) will be on September 15 under the theme ‘Enriching Intelligentsia and Culturati’ at Tokishe village under Dimapur district. Stating this in a press release on Wednesday, YAA Deputy Speaker Kirimong Yimkhiung informed that Western Sümi Hoho President Shikaho will grace the occasion as the special guest. All the federating units of YAA are mandatorily asked to attend the Assembly with all the necessary documents as notified, it said while cautioning that “Defaulting units will be dealt with as per the resolution,” the release stated. The YAA also extended invitation to the YTC, YWO, YBBA, YGOA, YGBU, WYH, PFPS, STPF, CAPF, YAA representatives to ENSF and former YAA officials as well as village VCC/VDB secretaries and SMC chairpersons.

Talk on Women and Electoral Politics in India at SJC Dimapur 

Dimapur, September 8 (MExN): The Anti-Ragging and Sexual Harassment Committee and Political Science Department Program organised a webinar on ‘Women and Electoral Politics in India’ with resource person Dr Tanusree Sarkar, Asst Prof, HoD, Political Science Department, Women’s College Tinsukia.  Almost 50 students and faculty members were present in the programme where Dr Sarkar talked about women participation in politics, reservation of seats in local bodies as well as national level, how gender bias is coming in the way of women participation in politics, and the factors that lead to the low participation of women in politics and the measures to overcome it.
