Mishra’s visit underscores series of broken promises: NPCC
Kohima, June 10 (MExN): The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today stated that the visit of A K Mishra, the GoI’s representative for the Indo-Naga political talks, once again highlighted the longstanding series of unfulfilled promises made by the Government of India (GoI) to the Naga people.
In a statement, it noted that despite the signing of two landmark agreements, the Framework Agreement with the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) nearly a decade ago, and the Agreed Position with the Working Committee of the Naga National Political Groups (WC-NNPGs) eight years ago, the GoI continues to delay the implementation of these commitments.
In this connection, the NPCC made a “fervent appeal” to Mishra to ensure the immediate and sincere implementation of these “hard-won agreements.”
“It is imperative that the long-awaited final political settlement is delivered without further delay, in honour of the aspirations of the Naga people,” it added.
