Assam Rifles celebrated the International Day of the World’s Indigenous People at Pungro, Kiphire District. The celebration was aimed at honouring and recognising the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the indigenous communities residing in the area. Assam Rifles along with local villagers participated in a series of cultural performances, traditional games, and educational sessions that highlighted the significance of indigenous knowledge and practices. Assam Rifles also facilitated a community interaction session where issues concerning the welfare and development of the indigenous people were discussed.

Fazl Ali College (FAC) held its annual fresher’s day in the auditorium hall on August 9. In the formal session, welcome speeches were given by Dr I Wati Imchen, Principal, FAC and Asensor, GS, FACSU. The judges for Mr & Ms Fresher 2024 were Yangerjungla Pongen, FAC Alumna & Fresher 2015, Dr Bendangrenla S Longkumer, Assistant Professor, Department of English and Thejatseizo Angami, Assistant Professor, Department of History. The winners were Yemkhong Samuel as Miss Fresher 2024, and Mangyangkokla as Fresher 2024.
Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu celebrated its 52nd Freshers’ Day on Friday August 9, with the theme ‘Timeless Elegance: Freshers’ Soiree’ at MPH Hall, ΚΡΑ.
The Department of English at MGM College celebrated National Book Lovers’ Day 2024 on August 9 in the college auditorium. The event featured students from the department reading lines from their favorite books, including selections from the canon of English literature by authors such as Charlotte Brontë, William Shakespeare, William Wordsworth, and Louisa May Alcott, as well as contemporary writers like Jojo Moyes, Colleen Hoover, and Jericho Brown.
Pfutsero Government College celebrated its 42nd Freshers’ Day on August 9 at the college auditorium, under the theme “Patience, Persistence, and Perseverance. 
Phek Village Council visits Mission Amrit Sarovar project at Muchuru Fishery Pond at Phek village on August 10. The Mission Amrit Sarovar was launched on 24 April 2022 with an objective to conserve water for the future. The Mission aimed at developing / rejuvenating 75 Amrit Sarovar (Pond) in each district of the country, totalling about 50,000 Amrit Sarovars in the country.
Phek Government College held its 42nd annual fresher’s meet with Pfhülo Sara, President, Chakhesang Students Union as the guest speaker on August 9. PGC Principal Dr T Tiakaba Jamir delivered the welcome address. Vezovo Rhakho, President, Phek Town Chakhesang Students Union and Rayi Veswu, Vice President, PGC also spoke during the occasion. In the second session, Kozo Venuh and Humuchilu Venuh were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher, while Keneisa Tunyi and Vemukrolu were adjusted Mr. Perfect and Miss Perfect. Ravo Rhakho and Zilu Veswuh were declared Mr and Miss Popular and the title Best Rampwalk was given to Ravo Rhakho and Etolu Rhakho. 
A students’ felicitation program was organised by Soluophe Students’ Union held at the village council conference hall on August 10.
