Marking Har Ghar Tiranga campaign on the 78th year of India’s Independence, the BJP Wokha District under the initiative of the BJYM Wokha Unit organised a Bike Rally at Wokha Town on August 12 which was flagged off by Nzano P Kikon, Dy Chairperson, Wokha Town Council from Longsa gate to local ground, Wokha. The Unit also took the initiative in the cleanliness drive in an around the Wokha town on August 14, as directed by the State BJP on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ and later participated in the hoisting of the National flag in own respective homes, offices and shops. Informing this in a press release, BJP Wokha Unit said the campaign saw participation by all the Districts officials, Morchas and Mandals in their own respective places. Dy CM and Home Minister, Y Patton also took part in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) at Englan Range, Wokha.
A free Heart Screening Camp for Children between the ages of 0-18 years was held at District Hospital Dimapur. The screening camp was held by Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) under National Health Mission Nagaland in collaboration with Manipur Heart Foundation and Sky Hospital & Research Center Pvt. Ltd., Imphal, Manipur. The screening team from Sky Hospital, Imphal Manipur included Dr Md Shahzad Alam, Consultant Cardiology, Arvind Nandeibam, Cath Lab. Technician, Shagolshem Sonia Devi, Echo Technician, Rajesh Sinha, Marketing Manager and RBSK Team under Dimapur District. During the screening camp, a total of 62 Children were screened and 7 were detected with Congenital Heart Disease.Research-extension-farmers interface meeting and input distribution program under Tribal Sub Plan(TSP) of ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Rani Guwahati in collaboration with ICAR-KVK Longleng was held on August 13 at KVK Longleng office premises. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Longleng W Manpai Phom, Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, Dr Juwar Doley, Senior Scientist, Dr Satish Kumar, Scientist and Dr Priyajoy Kar, Scientist from ICAR-NRC on Pig, Rani, Guwahati. During the programme, 50 tons of pig feeds and 300 numbers of milk cans were distributed to 250 farmers assisted by the subject matter specialists and staff of KVK Longleng.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Mon conducted an Animal Health Care camp at Ngangching Village on August 13 under National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA). Dr Rongensusang (ACTO- Animal Science) briefed the farmers about the role of climate in livestock and poultry production. Zhiete (ACTO- Soil Science) highlighted the importance of collection of livestock and poultry waste for making manures. 54 farmers participated in the programme. The participants were provided with animal health care inputs and organic manures.
Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) team led by its president, Pele Khezhie visited Tabitha Enabling Centre, Sepfuzou Colony on the occasion of 78th Independence Day. According to a press release issued by the NCSU, the Union reached out to the students and faculties with essential commodities on Wednesday, since the centre has holiday on August 15. It highlighted that the Academy is run by Asanuo Seb and Vekutilu Vese Ngone, both graduates from Oriental Theological Seminary. At present there are 35 disabled students in the Academy, which is purely run as a non- profitable organization. The Union, meanwhile, urged well wishers, individuals, groups to extend their kindness for the uplift of person with disabilities.
A new faculty building and engineering workshop was inaugurated at the Nagaland University, Kohima Campus on August 13. The inauguration was done by Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, in the presence of Pro Vice Chancellor Prof GT Thong, Registrar Dr Abemo, along with faculty members, officers, and staff of Kohima Campus. Prof Patnaik described the day as a ‘memorable and auspicious’ occasion in the university’s history. He emphasized that the new facilities would greatly benefit not only the engineering students but also the students from other departments.

The second phase of Skill Proficiency Management for Building and other construction workers Advanced Training of Trainers (TOT), sponsored by Nagaland Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (NBOCW) and conducted by Zynorique Initiative Society was held at Monyakshu Village Council Hall, Tobu Sub-division on August 13.The NSS Units of Wangkhao Government College, Mon, demonstrated their patriotic spirit and commitment to community engagement by organizing a Tiranga bike rally on August 14. The rally started from Longwa junction and ended at the college campus via the Super Market area. Dr Esther P. Konyak, Assistant Professor and Principal-in-charge, flagged off the rally. Apan B Konyak, Manyei Kuhmeishu N, and Yingpai Konyak, Assistant Professors, along with three programme officers, attended the event.
