Children’s Parliament Initiative-II under the aegis of Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) organised social initiative for the protection of environment and hygiene by the children’s parliament of United Christian School under the theme ‘a step to build and protect our environment’ at New Jalukie on August 3. A lecture on ‘Financial Awareness’ was delivered by officials from Canara HSBC Life Insurance Dimapur at ICFAI University Nagaland on August 1. Resource person, Purna Gurung, Branch Manager Canara HSBC Life Insurance Dimapur spoke on various aspects of Financial Management, Saving, Investment and Life Insurance. The lecture was followed by an interactive session in which a large number of faculty and staff got their queries answered by experts in the field of banking and insurance.

The NSDMA, Home Department consisting of Geologist, Engineers and field staff conducted Geophysical Survey and Aerial Survey of Alahuto Landslide/Land sinking area, Zunheboto town on July 30 and 31. The investigation was carried out using Resistivity Meter to collect data of the subsurface strata/soil & rock formations and ground water table of the said area. Drone aerial survey was also conducted to get the detailed information of structures and public utilities affected by the landslide. Office of TecheEon One Stop Solution, Zunheboto was inaugurated by Office in Command, 11 Battalion Assam Rifle, Zunheboto, Major Praveen Salotra, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS) Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto on August 2. Managing Director, TecheEon Office, Tokavi K Zhimo in the Keynote address elaborated on various types of services and also submitted a “proposal letter” to the DC Zunheboto to which the DC “assured of his sincere efforts to the higher authorities towards the proposal.” Major Praveen Salotra donated a laptop and printer for the functioning of the office. The Yingli College, Longleng, Women Development Cell conducted a one-day workshop on Arts and Crafts on August 2. Inaugural session special guest, Dr Lily Ngullie, Assistant Chief Technical Officer, KVK, Longleng spoke about the need and scope of skill development in the transforming world. Two practical sessions were taken on soap making, candles, wax sachet, bookmarks, beads, hair ornaments and paper crafts by the teaching faculty, Dr Vizolenue Sophie, Kiriahungle Haihing, Lochumbeni Shitiri and Konchem. The valedictory address was delivered by Dr B Henshet Phom, Vice Principal. More than 120 participants attended the workshop.
