The 28 Assam Rifles distributed solar lights as part of ‘illuminate lives for a brighter future’ campaign in collaboration with Sunbird Trust and Schneider Electronics at Pessao border village, Nagaland on August 21. Altogether 400 hi-tech solar lights were distributed to each individual household from border villages comprising of Pessao, New Pessao and Changlu village in Mon district. Due to the isolated location of Pessao cluster villages in close proximity of IMB (milli bar), the villagers are facing erratic electricity of an average of only two to three hours each day.

Dr Pritpal Karu, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) Longleng, inaugurated a computer lab at Phom Lempong Higher Secondary School in Longleng. The lab was donated by the Community Health Research Programme Charitable Trust, Mumbai, India, on August 21. N Tialemba Phom, Executive Secretary of the Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA), led the dedicatory and prayer ceremony. (DIPR Photo)
