Portion of Jhum paddy field were destroyed by wild elephants at Zeme Khelma village near Ntangki National Park and Assam border on September 14 night. According to report, this was the second intrusion by wild elephants in the field. The first incident happened on August 15 night where the wild elephants destroyed the rice paddy and a hut. According to Aakam Pame, social worker and students' activists, Jalukie, the farmers are helplessly in dismay over the incidents. 

Mokokchung Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N) facilitated Pongu, Hukpong, Namching, Phomching, Mongtikong, Yongshei, Yongam, Nian, Bhumnyu and Dongkhao villages with 122 LED street lights.
