A wreath laying ceremony was organised at the Unit War Memorial at Ghaspani to pay homage to Rifleman (GD) Darwan Singh who made the 'supreme sacrifice while foiling an attack by militants on a patrolling party' near Vijay Nagar Post, Jairampur on May 12, 1981 when the Unit was deployed at Jairampur, Arunachal Pradesh. The event was attended by 3 Officers, 28 JCOs and 233 other ranks of the Battalion, wherein the attendees were briefed on how the fallen hero displayed conspicuous gallantry, indomitable resolve, grit, determination and selflessness beyond the call of duty and made the supreme sacrifice in the true tradition of the force. Training on post harvest management and value addition of organic produce under MOVCD-NER during 2023-24 Phase-IV was organized by the Principal, Integrated Extension Training Centre (IETC), Meziphema for the organic farmers of Chümoukedima, Medziphema, Peren and Wokha on May 7. Keynote address was delivered by Dr Watimongla Jamir, Principal, IETC wherein she advised the farmers to attend the training attentively and also encouraged them to learn post-harvest management. Resource persons for technical session and practical session were Dr Sentirenla Jamir Asst Prof SAS: NU and Dr Imoasosang Longkumer, Asst Horticulture Specialist, CIH. They emphasized on care and post-harvest handling of various crops, kinds of preservatives use in pickle and candy making. Feedbacks were also shared by the farmers.
