On occasion of the National Endangered Species Day, the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on the awareness about endangered species under the theme ‘shoot us with cameras not guns’ at Mimi village located in remote Indo-Myanmar border. A total of 35 students and 7 teachers from Christian School, Mimi attended the lecture held on May 17. Lecture included information about Bison and Peacock having been extinct in the area and other species facing the threat of extinction due to habitat destruction, climate change, poaching, and other human activities. The two-day annual sports week of Government Middle School Longya ward, Kiphire town, concluded on May 17. The sports event was held at its compound with various items participated by students. The students were divided into three groups, Sirius, Castor, and Vega, with Castor emerging as the overall champion.

The Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) is conducting a Basic Course for Scout Masters and Guide Captains at its State Training Centre, Phezha Nerhema from May 15 to 21. Altogether 56 participants from 8 Districts (viz., Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Longleng, Mokokchung, Mon, Tuensang and Wokha) are attending the camp. The Course is led by State Training Commissioner (Scouts) R Albert Solo LT (S) and State Organising Commissioner (Guides) Vimezhonu LT (G) of NSBSG. The seven-day course will be covering various topics which will impart formal and non-formal educative knowledge on Physical, Intellectual, Emotional, Social and Spiritual learning experiences to the trainees. The Assam Rifles organised a lecture for troops on ‘Sustainable use of technology’ in commemoration with World Telecommunication Day 2024 in Kohima on May 17. The theme for World Telecommunication Day 2024 is “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development.” Throughout the event, views were shared consisting valuable perspectives on the integration of sustainability principles into technological innovations, highlighting the critical role that telecommunication and technology sectors play in advancing global sustainability goals.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang handed over immediate relief fund to Anjeli Dey of Pughoboto Town and Into Sema of Mishilimi Village at ADC Office, Pughoboto on May 17.
