Alejandra Maria Rodriguez Sierra, Chargeed’ Affaires, Embassy of Colombia to India graced the Cultural Connect event of Hornbill Festival 2022 at Kisama on December 6. She expressed her presence in Hornbill Festival as “a real privilege,” that celebrates and glorifies tribal cultures and cultural diversity of Nagaland. Nothing makes us prouder than seeing the brotherhood between our countries through art and culture, she said. Earlier, Gary Mehigan, Australian Chef was the chief guest. Garo Cultural Troupe performed Re’su Sota (Traditional Game) on Day 6 of Cultural Connect at Hornbill Festival 2022 at Kisama on December 6. Re’su Sota is a Garo traditional game which is commonly played by young boys. Traditionally, this game was mainly a test of war skills for the purpose of training up and for testing the skills of young boys by the kings and the chieftains before going for wars and battles. In this game, the plantain (banana) stem is installed on the ground. The young boys are made to cut the stem of the banana plant in turns using the Milam (Warriors Sword or Dao). The one who is able to chop off the banana stem with a single strike is adjudged as the winner. (Morung Photo)
