Women Entrepreneurs Network Nagaland (WENN) organised a financial literacy workshop in Tseminyu district on August 11, aligning with its 2023 theme ‘financial literacy as knowledge’ in partnership with State Bank of India. This is the 6th district in a series of workshops which will be held in 9 districts of Nagaland this year. The event was attended by 35 women entrepreneurs from different sectors. Modern College held its Freshers’ Day on August 11 with Yanpvuo Kikon, Entrepreneur & Consultant, as the special guest. He encouraged the students to focus more on the work experience rather than the pay, to diagnose problems and also come up with solutions. During the function, Sagar Sharma and Visielhounuo were adjudged Mr & Ms Fresher Modern College, 2023. In the informal session, Sunep Lemtur, renowned artist, producer and director made a special appearance and enthralled the audience with his most popular songs. 

Twenty five singers from across Nagaland auditioned for Nagaland Collective 2.0 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma on August 10. Nagaland Collective is a flagship program of Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) to nurture and mentor top talents of the state for the world of music and entertainment. The season one of Nagaland Collective did exceptionally well with performances in many high profile events including Hornbill Music Fest, grand finale of South Asian Cross Country Championships  and North East Festival in Thailand. Their hit single ‘Now or Never’ got rave reviews and was produced in partnership with Parx and Dolby.

The Oriental College, Kohima today held its 26th Fresher’s Day 2023 at the college premises. Gracing the programme, Chibeni Murry, vice principal Oriental College encouraged the students to work hard and reminded that “there is not short cut to success.” She also challenged the students to develop a positive mindset to earn a decent lifestyle. The programme also witnessed introduction of various clubs like National Service Scheme, Eco Club, Evangelical Union, Peace Channel, Red Ribbon Club, Drama Club, College Choir, Sports Club, Music Club and Young Adult Club. Fenika Pinchhurri and Evis L. Chophi were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher’s 2023 respectively.

The Chadanyi Krotho Zhadima celebrated 8th Chadanyi festival at Vitseizolie Farm, Zhadima in Kohima district on August 10. Chadanyi is celebrated after paddy transplantation is done and cleaning of paddy field pathways.  Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) President Roko Angami and member of Chadanyi Krotho exhorted the gathering and called upon the members to stay united and continue to work for common good. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chadanyi Krotho president Thepfiisalie Thomas. Vitseizolie Soriinuo invoked God’s blessings. Vote of thanks was proposed by Dielievio. Meanwhile, Vizosielie Khoubve has been inducted as the new president of Chadanyi Krotho with Khriengulie Dominic and Akho Sorü as general secretary and treasurer respectively.

The 41st Freshers' Day 2023 of the Baptist College, (Kohima and Sechü campus) was held at Ura Academy Hall Kohima on August 10. Shanavas C, Deputy Commissioner, Kohima graced the occasion as the guest speaker. He talked on the theme ‘Challenge Yourself Everyday’ and encouraged the Freshers to do well in their future endeavours. Chenithung Oduyo and Ngapam Konyak were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2023 respectively. The programme also witnessed special appearance from Mezavinü Pucho of B.A 5th semester and dance from Sassy Femmes and Student Council.
