e-Circle waste management company collected electronic waste from The Morung Express office on February 12. Supported by Nagaland State Pollution Contract Board, e-Circle is an authorised e-waste collection centre started by two young ladies– Bendangwala Walling and Sowete-ü Letro. Electronic waste, or e-waste, refers to all items of electrical and electronic equipment and its parts that have been discarded by its owner as waste without the intent of re-use. Besides disposing e-waste, the duo also conducts awareness and sensitisation drives at schools, colleges, hotels, colonies, etc.

 

Shamator District Social Welfare Department, ICDS Project organised orientation/refresher training for anganwadi workers/anganwadi helpers on February 12 at Cultural Hall, Shamator. The programme began with the introduction of the training by CDPO& DNO, Shamator, M Lakiumong Yimchunger and CDPO, Chessore, NL Tangsoi. Resource persons were the Supervisor and Senior Supervisor of the Department. Topics discussed were on Nutrition delivery in Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Aadhaar enrollment of children, Importance of pre-school and job responsibilities of Anganwadi Helper. St Joseph University (SJU) Placement Cell organised a one-day career awareness workshop on aviation, tourism and hospitality sectors for the final year PG and UG students on February 10. The resource person was Imsumeren Imsong, trainer and business development executive at Eagle Crest Training and Consultancy Pvt Ltd, Nagaland. Eagle Crest was formerly known as Emporium Training and Consultancy. The second session was on interview soft skills, which was taken by Ayani Kikon. A mock interview was also conducted in which five students participated.

 

Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) chairman Theja Meru met Yanger Aier, creator of the Yahuya Guitar on February 12. Aier rolled out Electric Guitar (Made in Nagaland) in 1990. “His pioneering contribution to  Nagaland's music journey is huge and path breaking,” Meru stated and look forward to many more interactions with him.
World Bank representatives on an official visit for the NECTAR project to Chessore Town participated in the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ signature campaign in the SDO Civil office Chessore on January 12.
