The Rengma Sports Association (RSA) had its Installation Program and Handing & Taking for the new team on February 9 at RSA Rostrum, Tseminyu. The new team will be led by GK Rengma as President with Vice Presidents-Akhu Kath and Tenyebinlo Himb, General Secretary- Jwenbu Semp along with 10 others as office bearers, representatives from 7 ranges as executives, advisors and various other committees for the tenure 2024-2028.
Wokha Police under the aegis of Superintendent of Police organised drawing and painting competition as part of Monthlong National Road Safety Month 2024 on February 10. The event was held at Regimental School DEF Wokha on the theme ‘is a road safety hero.’ K Soriso, NPS, Addl SP Wokha spoke on the need and importance of road safety measures to be followed by each and every individuals in order to avoid loss of life, injuries, damage to properties etc. He encouraged all participating students to be an ambassador for road safety by sharing their knowledge gained to all their loved ones and friends. Chumben Odyuo of Don Bosco HSS bagged the first prize. Shanchobeni Yanthan and Tsanthungo Kinghen both of Regimental School DEF Wokha were placed in second and third respectively. All winners and participants were given cash award and certificates.Burakum Ao and Vikepelhou Dzuvichü will represent Nagaland in the Dart Tournament in the 40+ (Doubles) and Burakum Ao in the singles Open as well as in the 40+ at the 6th National Masters Game at Goa. This will be the 1st time Nagaland will be represented in Dart Event in the National Masters Game 2024. Dart event has been scheduled for February 11. Both of them are also part of Nagaland team in the 40+ football event.The 34th Nagaland Lawn Tennis Championship concluded with Vilasier Khate lifting the Men’s Singles trophy. Held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Tennis Stadium, Kohima and organised by Nagaland Lawn Tennis association (NLTA), this championship was hosted by Kohima District Tennis Association from February 7 to 10. The winners in various categories were Men's Singles: winner-Vilasier Khate, Runner’s up-Thejasier Khate; In Men's doubles: winner-Thejasier Khate & Vilasier Khate, runner's up-Zhaputso Khate & Kepevilie Khate; In the Veterans category (above 40): winners-Seyiekhriezo Sekhose & Kikrusetuo Sekhose, runner’s up-Alpha Khamo & Teisozhavi Theünuo. Kuvemuri Ringa emerged Gladiator champion title in men category and awarded with a cash prize Rs. 5000 along with 1Kg Nitro Pro Whey. Alis Odirenla bagged Gladiator champion title in women category and awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5000 along with (One) 1Kg Nitro Pro Whey. The competition which was sponsored by JCC Alumni Association witnessed more than 300 participants competing for the prizes.
