Assam Rifles in collaboration with Tsutuonuomia Model Village under Op Sadbhavna has organised a Bamboo Crafting Skill Development Project at Seithogei Living School, Kohima from February 1 to 20. An update received here stated that the event was graced by Richard Belho, an architect based in Kohima alongwith troops of Assam Rifles. A total of 20 students from Noklak and Peren will be undergoing the training.
Assam Rifles flagged off a National Integration Tour for 20 elderly people from remote border villages of Noklak district on February 5. During the 12 days tour the team will be visiting Agra, Delhi and Kohima. ‘This tour will enable the elderly people of the Khiamniungan community to venture beyond their cultural boundaries and gain insight into other Indian cultures,’ stated an update from PRO, HQ IGAR (North).The BJP Mokokchung District led by its President, S Bendang Aier and District officials at DC office Mokokchung, showing their solidarity on the recent unfortunate fire incident occurred at MMC complex Mokokchung, donated Rs 50,000 towards the maintenance fund for the business victims. The BJP Mokokchung District also made known that it is ever willing to extend its full service and support for the people of Mokokchung whenever the need arises, it stated in a press release. Assam Rifles conducted a motivational lecture and an interactive session with NCC Cadets to encourage them to ‘Join the Armed Forces’ at Kohima Science College, Jotsoma on February 5. A total of 150 NCC Cadets, six faculty members along with Asst NCC Offr (ANO) were part of the interaction. The various aspects regarding applying, the selection process, training and life in the Armed Forces were touched upon. Pamphlets on various officer entries to join the Armed Forces were also distributed. The event was concluded with tea and refreshments.To upskill rural youth, KVK Tuensang in association with the State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute, Nagaland and National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management conducted a weeklong Skill Training for Rural Youth (STRY) on ‘Mushroom Production and its Economic Importance’ from January 27 to February 2 at Chendang village. Dr Watisenla Imsong, Senior Research Fellow, Seveto Nyekha, Programme Assistant and Yanger I Kichu, Farm Manager were the resource persons. Materials required for oyster mushroom production were also distributed to all the 14 trainees.The Sümi Baptist Theological Association (SBTA) Golden Jubilee Planning Board held its first meeting at Trinity Theological College, Thahekhu on February 5. The meeting was chaired by Rev Dr Khehovi Shohe, Director, Sümi Baptist Convention and Convenor, SBTA Golden Jubilee Planning Board. In its first meeting, the board set up different committee for the event.
