The National Girl Child Day was observed with the ‘A Girl with dream can change the world’ at Angeles Home, Signal Angami, Dimapur on January 24. Sister Aruna, Superior of Angeles Home spoke on the theme and also highlighted various government schemes for girl child launched by the Prime Minister of India. Sisters and staff performed a skit on education and the children presented solo and dance. A total of 17 children took part of programme.
The Department of Political Science, Eastern Christian College (ECC), Padumpukhuri organised a panel discussion on the theme ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure’ to mark National Voters’ Day on January 25. The panelist included Dr Dominic Khanyo, Principal, ECC and D Athikho and Solomon Chapao, assistant professors from the Department of Political Science. The chair, G Aloto Achumi, HoD, Department of Political Science opened the panel to discuss on the power of votes and had a dialogue on how “parties and media houses can occasionally be a threat to fair political discourse.” This was followed by question hour session.On the occasion of National Voters Day, the Department of Political Science, Fazl Ali College organised a programme on the theme ‘Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure’ with Lipokrenla Jamir, Associate Professor , FAC as the speaker. The participants were encouraged to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections. The programme concluded with the participants taking the voter’s pledge. According to a press release from Media Cell, MGM College, Fr Dr PS Varghese briefly highlighted the importance of soft skill development orientation, structure of the new syllabus. The resource persons Dr Azono Khatso, Assistant Professor, ICFAI University emphasised on the significance of EQ and arming self with soft skills. Dr Khatso also highlighted some important 21st century life skills, social skills and communication skills. This was followed by an interactive session.Children’s Park of Modern Higher Secondary School (MHSS) was inaugurated by Neizokhoto Belho, Chairman, Tsiepfütsiepfhe Council & governing body of MHSS on January 25. The ceremony was graced by Param Pujyapada Srimat Swami Biswapremanandaji Maharaj, Vice-President, BSS, HO, Kolkata cum Secretary of Jalpaiguri Ashram as the chief guest. Cultural items performed by the students of the Vidyapith were the highlights of the foundation day. The 75th Republic Day celebration at Sainik School, Punglwa was presided over by the Principal Col Arvind Nautiyal who graced the occasion as the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag. The Principal in his address highlighted the values enshrined in the Constitution and urged all present on the occasion, the cadets, the teaching, non-teaching, supporting staff to diligently perform their duties to serve the school and the nation. The school also organised certain sports events after which the prizes were distributed to the winning participants. The third edition of Tening town inter ward tournament inaugural programme was held at Tening Town local ground with Dr Meningsiliu Rentta, Obs & Gynea, DH, Peren as the special guest on January 25. The programme was held under the theme ‘Get Smart, Don't Start, Stay Away from Drug.’ The programme was chaired by General Secretary, Tening Town Youth Organization (TTYO) Wiridin while President TTYO, Kaibakam gave the welcome note and Tingthuilu presented a special performance.
