Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a free medical camp at Yangkhao village and its surrounding areas. A press note from the AR stated that the aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical consultation and treatment for minor ailments to the local residents devoid of requisite medical facilities. ATMA Chunlikha Kohima block conducted a demonstration program at Chunlikha village on July 4. Sinlo Khing, Assistant Technology Manager Chunlikha block was the resource person where he taught and demonstrated the participants on various management practices of coffee plantation. Techniques on training and pruning, spacing between the plants, green manuring for soil enrichment, spotting nutrient deficiency plants, pest management and disease management was covered. 5 farmers attended the demonstration and bio-pesticides were also distributed. ATMA Chunlikha block, Kohima conducted training on piggery management at Sishunu village with Sinlo Khing, ATM Chunlikha block as the resource person on July 8. He explained the various important points on rearing pig. The farmers were advised to maintain a hygienic environment and use antibiotics, timely vaccinations so as to prevent the pigs from diseases which could result in heavy loss. Proper feeding management was encouraged so as to maintain the body weight to feed ratio. Record keeping was also advised to manage the expenditure, income or loss from the farming. ATMA Chunlikha block, Kohima conducted training on Poultry Management at Likhwenchu village where Dr Gwathonlo Tsela, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Tseminyu block was the resource person on July 7. He gave a brief explanation on the scope of poultry farming in India. He talked about the various scientific methods of poultry farm management, encouraged the farmers to develop a well maintained poultry farm which could generate income as well as employment for the village. 9 farmers attended the training and antibiotic was also distributed to the farmers.
