The Assam Rifles organized a talent hunt programme for students of Kohima Garrison from July 21 to 29. A total of 250 individuals including officers, JCOs and OR along with their families attended the event. Maj Gen Vikas Lakhera, SM , IGAR North felicitated the prize winners.

Whito School celebrated its cultural cum parents’ day on July 29 in the school’s Grace Hall under the theme ‘Celebrating Family And Culture: Connecting Generations Through Tradition.’ The programme was graced by Krovielhu Keretsü after which a welcome speech was given by Er Keyongosa Yore. Dr Puchosel Kiso, Pastor, Christ Church gave an exhortation address on the importance of arranging such programmes and preserving the heritage of culture. There was also a special appearance by Imnaienla Jamir from Symphony Academy of Music, Kohima.  

Fr Vekupa George Rhakho, Secretary of Bishop, Kohima Diocese with St Francis Xavier Church community members during a three days retreat in Kidima on July 30. 

Salesian College of Higher Education Dimapur celebrated their annual Freshers Meet at Bernick Hall with the theme ‘Beginning of a New Journey to Learning.’ The guest speaker was the Director of the College Rev VA Thomas. Vizokhotuo Soukhrie and Lutsierho Pojar were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher 2023. Another highlight of the days programme was the felicitation of Kitelo Thono of 5th Semester, a member of the Faith in Action Martial Arts Academy, whose team entered the book of Guinness World Records, for the highest martial arts kick (assisted). 

Welcoming the newly admitted 1472 students, St. Joseph’s College (A), Jakhama celebrated the 36thFreshers’ Day on July 29 at the College Indoor Stadium with Theja Meru, Chairman, TaFMA as guest speaker.

The Dimapur Ao Baptist Arogo (DABA) Youth Ministry’s Drama Club organised the 2nd Theatre Festival at DABA Duncan church on July 30. Two plays were presented during the event namely ‘Lost Colour,’ directed by Limanungdang and Tiawapang Aier; and ‘The Rhythm of Terra,’ directed by Kilangtemsu Imsong and Mapulemba P Jamir.   

A sensitisation meeting addressing the issues of single-use plastics, tobacco, drug, and alcohol abuse was conducted at Dobashi Court EAC Office Longchem on July 29. The meeting involved representatives from the Church, civil society, and law enforcement agencies. The aim was to create awareness and develop strategies to combat these societal challenges. Norman Putsure College, Chümoukedima held a skill class on pisciculture for the 3rd Semester students, wherein the students visited the fishing sites. A detailed explanation of the fish rearing process was given through demonstration which included the process of fertilization and packaging. Students were also provided with other information on their transportation and the necessary equipments required. Later the fertilised fishes were release into the fishery pond. 

Four-day training for women on improved piggery and poultry farming concluded at Tseminyu today. The program which was conducted from July 26 to 29 was organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and sponsored by National Commission for Women (NCW), New Delhi. The inaugural function was graced by Dr Tinojongshi Chang, Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu. The Training was attended by 30 women from various SHGs and individual farmers. The resource person for were Dr Imomanen Tzudir, Dr Gwathonlo Tsela, Dr Kevisenuo Vizo and Dr Kekhrietsolie Keyho.

Nockpai Konyak, SDO (Civil), Kohima with others during the observation of World Day Against Trafficking in persons under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao with the theme “Reach every women of trafficking, leave no one behind” at Midland Panchayat Hall, Kohima on July 28. It was organized by Kohima district administration in collaboration with District Hub for Empowerment of Women Kohima, Sakhi- One Stop Cente Kohima and District Child Protection office Kohima.

The Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Guwahati led by President and office bearers had a courtesy visit to the Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) office on July 29 where they met the AKM office and discussed various issues. The AKM also imparted knowledge and advices after which the AKM officials were felicitated by the AKTG.

NDPP Pughoboto Region office bearers along with members of the NDPP Central Executive Board and other NDPP frontal organisations paid a courtesy call to KT Sukhalu, Pughoboto Region in charge and Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies at his official residence in Kohima on July 28. The NDPP Pughoboto Region office bearers reaffirmed to work in unison to strengthen and uplift the party in the region Nagaland.  Meanwhile, KT Sukhalu assured to address the grievance of the region at the highest level and work for its welfare.
