In preparation for the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26), the District Administration Shamator in collaboration with NCORD and YoungFit Wellness launched a ward-wise anti-drug campaign across Shamator town on June 20. As part of the initiative, Master Volunteers were introduced in each ward to raise awareness and promote community involvement in the fight against drug abuse. The campaign aims to highlight various anti-drug efforts undertaken by the Administration while YoungFit Wellness focuses on prevention through fitness, mental well-being and healthy lifestyle practices. Craft Demonstration cum Awareness Programme (CDAP) organised by Ministry of Textile, Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Handicrafts Service Centre, Kohima in collaboration with Deputy Commissioner, Mon was conducted at Government Higher Secondary School, Mon Town from June 18 to 20. CDAP is a three-day workshop where students get the opportunity to learn the basics of craftsmanship from master trainers in various crafts. Four different crafts like artistic tribal textiles, tribal jewellery, crocheted goods, cane & bamboo crafts have been demonstrated by four master crafts persons. T Patoi Konyak, State Awardee graced the inauguration programme. Arvind Kumar, Sr Principal, GHSS Mon Town and Rajib Chandra Roy, Handicraft Promotion Office, DC spoke during the event.The Placement Cell of College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Central Agricultural University (Imphal), Jalukie, Peren organised a career counselling cum motivational talk on ‘Career in Pharmaceutical Industries’ on June 18. Dr Rabin Nath, Technical Executive of Virbac Animal Health Pvt Ltd was the resource person. Dr Nath highlighted the various job opportunities and career prospects available in the pharmaceutical industry for veterinary graduates. He also delivered a technical lecture on the management of mastitis. The programme was conducted under Dr I Shankuntala, Dean of the College, with welcome address by Prof SK Borthakur, In-charge of Placement Cell. The event was coordinated by Dr Bhabesh Mili and Dr Tukheswar Chutia.To commemorate the birthday of Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament and former Congress President, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) organized a Special Blood Donation Camp at Congress Bhavan, Kohima on June 19. S Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament and President of the NPCC, expressed his sincere gratitude to all those who generously came forward to donate blood. He also extended appreciation to the medical staff from Naga Hospital Kohima for their dedicated service throughout the camp. Later, as part of the celebrations, the MP accompanied by his team of aides and party workers, visited the Kohima Orphanage.
