With regard to the upcoming World No Tobacco Day’s theme for this year ‘We need food not tobacco,’ the District Tobacco Control Cell, Kohima organized an essay competition among the tobacco free schools at the School of Nursing at Naga Hospital Authority on Wednesday. Twelve (12) students from different schools participated in the competition and the certificate of participation was given to all the students. Prizes for the winners will be given on ‘World No Tobacco Day’ i.e May 31.


A three-day skill development training programme for the youths under association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches, Nagaland organised by AGBCNYD concluded on May 21. The programme was conducted at the Singrijan Village, Chümoukedima District. Speaking at the programme, Youth Secretary, Shishir Lama congratulated the trainees on completion of the training and encouraged the youths to utilise the knowledge gained for generating income. During the three days programme, resource person were Vithorzo Secu, K Danlunla and Neikole Khutso.  All together 84 Youths from 23 Churches under AGBCN participated in Skill development training during the three days seminar starting from May 19 to 21.


Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik felicitated the students of the university and their coach who participated in the All India Grappling Competition organized at Madhyanchal Professional University, Bhopal.  Registrar Dr. Abemo, Deputy Director (Sports) Harish Tiwari, Finance Officer, Albert Khijho, Sports Coach, Amritpal Singh, secretary to VC PC John were present during the felicitation ceremony. Zeviepe Pulo, student of Department of Zoology secured a Bronze Medal in AIU National Grappling Championship 2023 under 54 weight category held at MP University, Bhopal on April 19. The event was conducted under the aegis of AIU, New Delhi.


Nagaland VDB Association led by President Tohoshe Awomi and Kohima District VDB Association president Roko Angami and member with Rural Development Minister, Metsubo Jamir, Commissioner & Secretary Neposo Theluo, RD Director Azenuo Pienyü and officials during coordination meeting on May 24 in Kohima.
