The 7th All India Conference of the Deaf (AICD) was held after a gap of 35 years. It was organized by All India Federation of the Deaf, New Delhi, and hosted by Assam Association of the Deaf at Madhavdeva International Auditorium, Guwahati in Assam from May 18 to 21. The conference included a host of activities from presentations to discussions on various topics concerning deaf people’s rights to deaf cultural shows. A team of eight hearing impaired people from Nagaland participated in the event and brought home the following prizes: Nuchet Longchar - 1st prize in Mime; Tekamendang Sangtam - 1st Runners up, Mr Deaf Senior; Khetoli Kiba, Rodeno Tungoe, Ozunglemla Ozkhum, Echungbemo Kikon, Tekamendang Sangtam, Nuchet Longchar - 2nd prize in cultural dance.
Office of Superintendent of Police, Longleng and Longleng District User’s Network organised a workshop on skill development for substance abusers (drugs dependants) on May 24.  SP Longleng, Dr Pritpal Kaur IPS said, “Drug is a slow poison” and urged the addicts to try to change their lifestyle in positive manner and finish their rehabilitation medicines timely. Longleng District User’s Network person Shashing and Chingmei said that their team and Office of SP Longleng came together to start the initiative in order to help them reform their lives by giving them different skill development trainings. The rehabilitation patients will be given various skill trainings by trainers on daily basis and the products they make will be sold in local markets. More than 40 persons participated in first batch. 
Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Zunheboto celebrated Yuva Utsav with Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS as special guest at Cornerstone Higher Secondary School on May 25. DC Zunheboto Rahul Bhanudas Mali, IAS and Additional SP, Zunheboto, Vekhrolo Kosa spoke during the function. The programme was Chaired by Zakato L Zhimomi, NYKS Zunheboto, welcome address by Tokavi Swu, MD CSHSS,  keynote address by P Rebecca Rangnamei, DYO, NYKS Zunheboto,  speech on skill development by Priyanka Kumari, MGNF, special appearance by Shikato Awomi, youth director PBC Zunheboto. Clean Mokokchung Campaign under Mokokchung Municipal Council initiated a RRR (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle) Centre as part of the Meri Life, Mera Swachh Shehar Campaign. The volunteers collect unused items (clothes, household goods, TV, bags shoes utensils etc) and display them at Imlong Place, Mokokchung town where any person in need can pick and take the items free of cost. This initiative started on May 23 and will continue till June 5. The organisers have appealed the Mokokchung citizens to come forward and contribute unused items for the RRR centre.
Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance Delhi and Central Nodal Observer for Jal Shakti Abhiyan, Rahul Jain IAS visited Zunheboto district along with CWB Technician, Anne on May 24. During interaction with all JSA members and DC Zunheboto, Rahul Mali IAS, Joint Secretary highlighted importance of Jal Shakti Abhiyan and Source sustainability of drinking water. He visited the Amrit Sarovars and spring sheds in Zunheboto district on May 25.
