Community Health Centre, Pungro observed World No Tobacco Day 2025 under the theme “Unmasking the appeal: Exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products” at Govt Middle School Pungro Village on May 31. Dr Theja Vizo, Dental surgeon as the resource person.

 

In observance of World No Tobacco Day, the Anti-Tobacco Club of Ministers' Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School (MHBHSS), Kohima submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B Henok Buchem, at his office, urging strict control over the sale of tobacco and its products in and around the school premises. The memorandum, presented by the student representatives along with faculty coordinators, highlighted the growing concern over the easy availability of tobacco products near educational institutions, posing a significant threat to the health and well-being of students. DC Kohima Buchem assured that necessary action would be initiated to address the issue and promote a healthier, tobacco-free environment, especially around schools.
National Tobacco Control Programme, Mokokchung observed World No Tobacco Day under the theme ‘Unmasking the appeal: Exposing industry tactics on tobacco and nicotine products’ at GMS Senkalemba, Mokokchung on May 31. Nukshiwati, consultant, DTCC gave a brief presentation on the theme and raise awareness about the harmful influences of tobacco. The students were encouraged them not to be a victim of tobacco. A free oral check-up was held for the students by Dr Keneitheja Dental Surgeon IMDH Mokokchung. Free oral hygiene kits including tooth brush and paste were also distributed. A painting competition was also conducted on the theme where Longdichem bagged 1st prize with Puniang -2nd prize and Khioniu - 3rd prize. Certificate and cash prize was awarded to the winners.
