Modern Institute of Teacher Education (MITE) organised its 8th fresher’s day on the August 9. In his exhortation, the guest of honor, Pelee Hekha, the Managing Director, briefed the newly drafted National Policy on Education, 2019 with a special focus on teacher education. He urged the prospective teachers to take the challenges of equipping themselves with the knowledge and skills from multi-disciplines to enable them the fittest for survival in the new generation educational system. A team from UPHC-I Burma camp led by Dr. Chamzai Newmai M.O i/c UPHC-I Burma camp and her team conducted a special outreach camp in Imkonglenden Primary school Dimapur on August 10. A press release from Imkonglenden Colony Council (ICC), stated that around 78 person were given treatment. The team also provided free consultation, free basic lab and free medicine. In view of the forth coming celebration of Independence Day 2019, to be held at Tseminyu on August 15, a mass social work was conducted at Tseminyu town on August 9. The social work, supervised by Administration of Tseminyu led by Tsutsowe, SDO (C), was successfully conducted from 8:00 am till 1:00 pm. Both government employees and public from all nine wards in Tseminyu town participated in the social work, where on the spot attendance were conducted for both public households of Tseminyu town and all the department staff. A cascaded training for EROs, AEROs and AEOs for conduct of Electors Verification Program (EVP) and Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls w.r.t January 1, 2020 as qualifying date was held on August 9 at Multipurpose Hall, ATI, Kohima. Chief Electoral Officer, Abhijit Sinha IAS addressed the trainees while Deputy CEO, Awa Lorin spoke on Electors Verification Program and IT Section, CEO’s Office gave a presentation on ERO Net/BLO Net/NVSP/Voter Helpline Mobile App. Deputy CEO, Ruokuovituo Khezhie spoke on Legal Provisions and Procedural matters followed by discussion by Addl. St. Xavier Catholic Church, Kidima organized a sales day programme in aid of golden jubilee (2020) on August 10 at PR Hill junction sponsored by ATMA Kohima district. The combine one month detoxification camp held at Wakching concluded on August 9. The closing function programme was attended by Wangjah, Youth Secretary; KBBB, Tontao, Mission Secretary; KBBB, Village Council Chairman and GBs of Wakching Village; Lampong Wakching; Wakching Chingla; President, Public Organization; Wakching Town and Combine Wakching Students. A total of 64 people completed the detoxification camp. With the closing of the camp, three combine Wakching Villages and Wakching Town were declared as ‘drugs and opium free area’ from August 9. The Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) conducted its 13th phase of sanitation drive with the students of Government Higher Secondary School, Phek on August 10. More than 350 students participated in today’s sanitation drive. PTCSU speaker Surhoveyi Khesoh urged upon the students and educated persons to show a good example to fellow citizens to adopt good sanitary practice and clean environment.
