On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day, the Dimapur Press Club (DPC) visited the Central Jail in Dimapur and provided essential food items for the Central Jail inmates.
Indian Red Cross Society, Dimapur District Branch visited Bethesda Youth Welfare Centre to distribute edibles on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day.
Kohima Press Club (KPC) visited the District Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases Hospital at Khuzama on the occasion of the 72nd Independence Day. KPC members interacted with the staff and patients of the hospital, which is one of the only two TB treatment centers in Nagaland. The other TB hospital is located in Mokokchung district. There are currently seven patients admitted to the Khuzama centre. “It was noted that while the number of patients is declining, the in-patients and the staff were facing several difficulties such as lack of proper kitchen, power supply problem and lack of electrician, defective equipment in the hospital laboratory, and inadequate supply of nutritious food for patients,” KPC stated in a press note. The club donated some items of food, snacks and refreshment to the patients and staff. Altogether, 26 members of the press club participated in the visitation.
Inner Wheel Club of Dimapur during the 72nd Independence Day celebration initiated the ‘Say No to Plastic’ campaign to minimize the use of non biodegradable substances and promote sustainable environment in society for the future generation. The Club members pasted posters in and around main market places of Dimapur city. The members of Inner Wheel Club of Dimapur also visited Naga Blind Association, Nutun Basti and distributed food packets and grocery items.
Rotary Club Dimapur celebrated Independence Day with students of St Joseph children’s Home, Burma Camp. The Club distributed dry ration, sweet, food packets and scholarship to students.
On the 72nd Independence Day celebration, Rotary Club Mokokchung and the Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) jointly visited District Jail Mokokchung and interacted with the inmates. They also donated food supplies to the inmates.
NPF Minority Wing celebrated 72nd Independence Day at Dimapur office. The members organised a social work and free food distribution programme to patient in hospital and needy people at Railway station area under the leadership of Bishnu Bhattacharjee, President Minority Wing Central and Roshan Tamang, President, MW Dimapur Division.
Agri and Allied opened up nine stalls organised by Department of Agriculture under Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD) for North East Region during the 72nd Independence Day celebration at Dimapur district. Organic Dragon fruits, a produce from Dream Dragon fruit farm sold like hot cakes within no time from the Horticultire stall. Similarly, owning to the scarcity of fishes in the market, people thronged the fishery department stall to buy the fresh fishes. Land resources, Excise and several other departments also open their stalls showcasing their products. Besides, under the initiative of DRDA Dimapur, number of SHGs also sold fresh vegetables, handicraft items etc. CRPF and Assam Rifles also displayed different weapons marking the occasion.
The 78 Bn CRPF at Zubza, Kohima celebrated 72nd Independence Day at the Zubza camp under the leadership of Ram Chandra, Commandant (AOL). The celebrations began with ceremonial guard of honour and hoisting of National Flag at the Unit Quarter Guard. The Commandant (AOL) announced the names of President’s Award recipients. Total of 133 Gallantry medals were awarded to CRPF Officers/personnel informed Ram Chandra, Commandant (AOL). Sweets were distributed to members of unit, families and civilians. Other highlights were Get-Together (At home party), sports activities followed by ‘Bara Khana’ at all sub units, out posts and Unit Head Quarter.
