National Education Day was celebrated on November 9 at Modern College. National Education Day is celebrated every year on the birth anniversary of Maaulana Abdul Kalam Azad, the first Education Minister of India. An essay writing competition was held on the topic “True Education” which is the motto of Modern College, Kohima. The Triumph Infosystem Skills Development and Services (TISD&S) awarded certificates of completion to 100 students for completing training on IT and ITES; entrepreneurship skills training programme (ESTP) at Dimapur yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Takatoba Aier, Mission Director NULM, SUDA encouraged the trainers about the importance of skills training. He also stressed upon the providers to consider implementing job placement programs or set up self-enterprises for successful candidates. TISD&S is a franchise of AISCM, one of the national reputed skills development service provider in India. The state office located at Nagarjan, dimapur is headed by Hainenmo Thong and Imsurenla Imchen.
 
Veterinary Hospital building Mokokchung, located at Yimyu Ward, was inaugurated by Dr. Aomangyang Walling, Director of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Nagaland, Kohima on November 9. Earlier in the day, the Director also inaugurated a Veterinary Health Center at Longmisa village, Mokokchung. Sainik School Punglwa organised a cancer awareness programme at the neighbouring village of Punglwa on November 8 with an aim to sensitise the awareness of the deadly disease to the local populace at large and to motivate them to abandon the habits that cause cancer. In the campaign, cadets marched on the roads holding placards and raising slogans which put across a strong message on cancer awareness. The District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) Chiechama, Kohima organized Handwriting Competition for Class 6, 7 and 8 under Chiephobozuo SDEO on November 8 at DIET Chiechama, Kohima. Altogether 34 students participated for the competition.
