Nagaland: NIDA for transparency in Health Dept

Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): The Nagaland In-Service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) on Monday put across its solidarity “with any group that strives to bring transparency in the functioning of the department for the welfare of the public.” In a press release issued on June 1, NIDA noted that while filling of RTI or PIL cannot be stopped, “the compilation of detailed information is causing disruption in the functioning of the office, when the entire department machinery is fully engaged in hectic preparation and combating the COVID-19 pandemic with time being the most crucial factor.” It therefore appealed to all concerned parties to take this into consideration.

The NIDA also expressed its strong displeasure for the PIL against “selective department officials by name” saying it adversely affects the morale and motivation of the concerned officials as well as the rank and file of the department. Regarding PPEs, it informed that in the initial period, due to shortages all over the world, the department procured what was available in the market at that particular point of time. It is learnt that other States have also procured the same kind of PPEs and have been put to use effectively. Because of the timely procurement, coupled with rigorous training on PPEs, the department is now in a better position to face the unfolding challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, it added.
