Nagaland: No COVID-19 cases yet, no ban on foreign tourists

DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Secretary (CS), Temjen Toy today informed that there will be no ban on foreign tourists since the concerned department will be closely monitoring them. This was stated during a video conference with all District Commissioner and the Nagaland Commissioner held today, informed a DIPR report. 


The video conference was held to ensure that the State was prepared to tackle the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). 
It was further informed that there are still no cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nagaland. 


The CS directed all districts to form District Task Forces to be headed by the Deputy Commissioners. The DCs will work in close coordination with the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) and all the other stakeholders including the School Education and District Disaster Management Authority. 


He also asked the Directorate of Health and Family Welfare to open an official twitter handle to provide official updates on the epidemic and avoid rumors. He directed that necessary action be taken against those spreading rumours and fake news. 


The CS directed the concerned department to ensure that Personal Protective Equipments like N-95 masks and thermal scanners be made available to all the units. 


Principal Secretary School Education, Menukhol John speaking at the conference asked all the DCs to ensure that the advisory issued be communicated to all the schools in their respective districts. 


Principal Director, H&W, Dr. Vizolie Suokhrie informed that Kohima and Dimapur have already identified quarantine locations wherein 50 beds have been placed to be used in the event of detection. He mentioned that every district was prepared and added that more places will be identified as quarantine locations in the other districts. He also asked villagers to report to the concerned authorities in the event of flu-like symptoms.


Dimapur DC, Anoop Khinchi, IAS expressed the need for more thermal scanners at Dimapur Airport and suggested scanning all arriving passengers. At present only passengers having travel history from 12 majorly affected countries are being scanned. Announcements will also be made at Dimapur Railway Station directing passengers with travel history from the 12 countries to go through the process of thermal scanning.

 

Masks, hand sanitisers being 
sold at exorbitant rates in Dmr

DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur has cautioned against charging exorbitant rates for masks and hand sanitisers in Dimapur. A notice issued through the DIPR informed that masks and hand sanitizers are reportedly being sold in the local markets at exorbitant prices. The DC cautioned that the administration would take stern action against sellers engaged in such practice.
