The National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers undertook training on "Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme" under the preparedness of National Disaster Response as first Batch at Central Training Institute (CTI), Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur.

Ruokuovituo Zatsu, State NSS Officer, Nagaland informed  that 120 NSS volunteers joined this first batch programme from July 14 to 20, which was organised by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India.

Avinuo, CO CTI addressed the inaugural programme on July 14 while M. Yingnyei Konyak, Deputy Commandant chaired the programme.

The programme was held in collaboration with Home Guards, Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force.

Certificates have been awarded to the volunteers after the completion of the training programme.

The primary objective of the Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme is to instil a spirit of voluntary contribution among the youth and to systematically engage them in disaster management activities through a structured institutional mechanism.

It may be recalled that NDMA launched 'Yuva Aapada Mitra Scheme' to train 2,37,326 young volunteers from the youth organizations such as National Cadet Corps (NCC), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Bharat Scouts & Guides (BS&G), and National Service Scheme (NSS) in 315 districts of 28 states as a first respondent to disaster preparedness response and Training of 1,300 trainers  (ToTs) for previously trained  volunteers under the Up-scaling of Aapda Mitra Scheme (UAMS).
