Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): Anyone passing out from institutions other than the recognised and affiliated nursing schools/institution of Indian Nursing Council and State Nursing Council will not be eligible for registration under the Nagaland Nursing Council (NNC).
These trainees will also not get employment under the Government of Nagaland/Private Hospitals/Nursing Homes, further informed the NNC in a press release from its Registrar Dr. Sentinaro Ao on September 1.
The council was made aware of many private institutions imparting nursing training without obtaining recognition/affiliation from INC and State Nursing Council and many trainees who have passed out from these institutions are working as nurses in the private sector, the NNC said.
In this connection, the council cautioned that it is mandatory for all the private hospitals/nursing homes/clinics to employ only registered nurses who have undergone nursing courses from Indian Nursing Council’s recognized institutes.
As per Nagaland Nursing Council Act 2019, Chapter III of Section 25, the Council is empowered to inspect any hospital, health institution, nursing home, college of nursing or school of nursing to ascertain that the person working therein as a nurse are registered with the Council, it said.
Any person who practices or allows a person to practice as a nurse, LHV/ANM/FHW in contravention of Section 29 of Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019 shall be punished with imprisonment which may extent upto 2 years and liable for a fine or both (Section 30 of Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019).
The Sec 9 provided that, “No govt. or private health institution, hospital, dispensary or infirmary shall employ any category of Nurse/LHV/ANM/FHW, unless he or she is registered with the Council,” the NNC informed.
A hospitals/school/college/Female Health Worker training school which has not been approved or recognized under sub-section (1) of Section 24 of the Nagaland Nursing Act, 2019 is prohibited to issue such certificate to any person, it added.
The council further informed that it would be conducting inspection of all the hospitals/schools/institutions/nursing homes /that are under private management in due course.
